I didnt do so hot. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

My first time out and I spun out like a mofo leaving the staging area.

No traction. Also I cant smoke tires worth a ****.

Ernie, you gotta give me some pointers man. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Thanks for helping me stage.

I did have fun and i will be back.

I have a new fouind respect for drag racing.

Getting the car to not spin out is harder than I thought.

Did anyone see the car hit the wall?

I left right after my run.

Oh I ran a 13.2 @115

I cut a sweet ass 2.37 60ft. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

Not to be a blowhart but there is alot of room for improvement.

My car can do an 11 sec pass. I have no doubt in my mind.

But it is going to be hard for me to learn how to make that happen.

It took me a few nights to really get the hang of drag racing. All it is is practice.

Did you do what i told you for a burnout? Just dump the clutch, and hit the brakes hard with your left foot and you will not go anywhere.

rfreeman27 11-09-2003 05:30 PM

How did everybody else do?

Honestly Bobby you were about the last thing on my mind.

There was a pretty big crowd and I just did what came to my head.

Ernie lined me up and told me to "heel to toe it". I looked at him like "huh" LOL. He was looking at me like "what a dumbass" https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I floored it and just burned out. Then when I launched I floored it again and just spun out all through 1st gear almost. It was pretty sad. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

LOL

Remember...just chillllll

On friday nights at 75-80 there is a SHITLOAD of people there, 3/4ths of them are completley wasted. My first few times I got nervous, thats why i told you to chill.

Fd3BOOST 11-09-2003 06:13 PM

I wasnt nervous of drivin. I was scared that I was going to do something wrong and hold up the line.

Noone tells you what your supposed to do. I had to guess wtf i was supposed to be doing. I am amazed that they let any Tom, Dick or Harry on that track without any form of instructions or rules that they go over with you prior to racing. For guys like me who never raced before it is nerve racking.

Thank god Ernie showed up and kind of point me in the right direction.

Yup,

75-80 is the worst, there are some characters up there...

93 R1 11-09-2003 07:34 PM

So you didn't do the John Force burnout? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

For the burnout, pull past the water, rev, drop clutch, get it spinning and get on the brakes so it moves slowly foward.

You gotta launch it easy. Try like 4-5000rpm and slip the clutch Or put on ET streets and just ******* sidestep the clutch at 7000 rpm and hang on.

tcb100 11-09-2003 07:55 PM

I ran an 11.6 - JUST enough to get into the quick 16 (15).

They put RX-7s in Wild Street (2 power adders) with a 9 second Mustang and gobs of 10 second cars. Z06's were in the class below!

For my first and only run in the eliminations I drew the number 2 car, 10.22 Supra. It was ugly.

Car ran well most of the day but horrendus misfire in the elminination run, not that it would have mattered anyway.

And Ryan's (Rikki) new RX-8 tranny gave out. They must be a weak link in the car. I have heard other bitching about them.

Dave, don't give up the ship. My first night at the track I think I lost to a Honda! And this was a pro-tree, a bear for your first race. Get some et streets & life will get better.

way to go! 11.6 is an awesome time!!

I am hoping to pilot my car to times in that area next season!

93 R1 11-09-2003 08:21 PM

The rx8 broke?

Fd3BOOST 11-09-2003 09:44 PM

Tom, thanks.

Next season you guys will be seeing me come out.

I gotta get better, I need to go and run ALOT.

Holy birdpoop.

Ryan that sucks about your tranny.

tcb100 11-10-2003 09:40 AM

Ryan's tranny was making noises before he ran and I think he said there is a recall on them.

He made a couple of runs, started home, and it locked up on him. Had to get the car towed home. Somebody said it's a Miata tranny in the RX8?

Mazderati 11-10-2003 09:56 AM

If not exactly the same I think they are very similar.

NaughtyFD 11-10-2003 09:59 AM

Damn Tom congrats on the 11.6. See what a good track will do!! I might have to do a little more now!!

Mike

Mike

Yeah, we cant let him run away.

did I tell you i think there is a test+tune still open on sunday mornings? I thought it was limited to class racing now, but it looked like there were alot of street cars in lane one last sunday morning.

tcb100 11-10-2003 01:08 PM

The 75-80 Web site says they are doing test and tune this Sunday and next.

AND MIR is open for test and tune on Saturday.

Depending on how abusive my wife becomes when I announce it, I am going to try to do both.

My 60' continues to be weak - 1.696. I'm not gonna get more power out of it than I did in this weather and I'm not gonna shift any better. Note that knocking the 60" down to 1.6 would take me to the 1.5s. Gotta work on the launch.

And then when I put in the bottle next season Naughtyfd...

Fd3BOOST 11-10-2003 01:14 PM

You going to try this Sturday at MIR Tom?

I gotta work but I could play sick https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

loudazzrx7 11-10-2003 02:23 PM

Well for any one that cares,i had a good birthday.I took Home 3 trophys that day.

Best graphics

Top 25

and Judges pick

It was cool!

NaughtyFD 11-10-2003 03:07 PM

I am planning on hitting 75-80 on sunday. I broke a fuel feed line friday night cause I am a dumbass but NX is next day airing it to me right now so I should be good to go by the weekend.

But an 11.6?? Damn you are making it tough Tom. 11.8 was bad enough. Hopefully my rear will hold together launching on slicks and a 120-180 shot!!!

tcb100 11-10-2003 04:22 PM

You don't need 120-180. You need to share. Perhaps we could rig up a line?

ErnieT 11-10-2003 06:59 PM

Dave,

No worries bro. If I saw you earlier, I would have shown ya how to heel/toe it. The lack of burnout (and water probably still on your tires) was the cause of your spinning 1st-3rd gears. Willie actually let me drive his 7 on his 2nd qualifing run. Willie couldn't muster a good 60' out of the car so I convinced him to let me give it a shot. I did an awesome burn-out. My 60' was pretty nice considering I havn't driven a 7 in a year. I managed a 1.51, but his damn shifter was loose and I missed 2nd, then missed 4th! When I did slam it in 4th it got loose so I just let it coast the rest of the track. I still managed a 11.5 @ 108mph....LOL https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Can't wait till mine is done.

Fd3BOOST 11-10-2003 07:05 PM

I didnt even realize that i spun through 3rd gear also.

tcb100 11-10-2003 08:13 PM

Where can I buy a 1.51 & how much does it cost? Damn I gotta work on my launch.

Ernie, which car was that you were driving?

ErnieT 11-10-2003 08:31 PM

lol..........the Black RX7. Mazdaspeed front-end. Smoked like spy hunter.....His turbo is shot.....but was still good enough for a 10.61 later that night.

tcb100 11-10-2003 10:58 PM

Anybody beat that Mustang?

NaughtyFD 11-11-2003 07:06 AM

Tom your gonna spray too?

Damn I might have to break down and do a heads/cam swap this winter but then I will probably shatter the rear.

tcb100 11-11-2003 07:19 AM

At the moment I plan to at least investigate it carefully over the winter. If I do no2 I may as well do a midpipe and if I do a midpipe I should probably go non-sequential.

My "really street legal" philosophy will be toast. I'm not sure I want to do that. I'm thinking.

I am also reasonably sure i am going back to MIR Saturday & if I don't break anything, 75-80 on Sunday. Have to take advantage of this weather.

NaughtyFD 11-11-2003 07:38 AM

You are gonna give Erinie T a run for his money soon!!

I havent been to the track for almost 2 months I need to go!!

tcb100 11-13-2003 07:30 AM

No, I think Ernie T is safe. But the issue is getting to the 1.5s at launch. Any ideas?

Did you read the handouts given to you when you paid? the survival guide is confusing but its pretty accurate. It was my first time 'racing' too I though I knew what to do but doing burnouts and stuff was the easy part. I did learn how to win at the finish line tho. SOme times you gotta hit them brakes LOL

dcrasta 11-13-2003 09:21 AM

HEy u guys going to MIR saturday? Hmmm... Maybe my lil gsl-se needs to show up Hehehehe

NaughtyFD 11-13-2003 10:36 AM

Tom

ET DRAGS!!! Heat em up. Rev it up and dump it. Or get a stronger clutch yours may be slipping.

Btw I drove the beast to work today and sure enough I get to 29 and 32 intersection and bam something in the tranny broke. I am stuck in one gear, I thinks its 3rd or 4th. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

tcb100 11-13-2003 10:52 AM

Naughtyfd, sorry to hear about your car. I am holding my breath because nothing broke this season.

Dcrasta, as of today, I plan to go to MIR Saturday for test and tune.

Do you plan to do some more fuel mods?

tcb100 11-14-2003 11:38 PM

Bobby, I don't think I need fuel mods at my level of horsepower.

Fd3BOOST 11-15-2003 12:07 AM

As long as your not maxing out your duty cycle your good to do.

Also Tom, I had surgery on my arm today so i dont expect to be at the track on Saturday.

Have fun https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Humm, mabye i'm running super rich then...

I guess if you have a tuned wet shot there is no need for more fuel...

I might actually strap ont he et-streets and have a go on sunday at 75-80. I fixed my boost/fuel cut problems (well i still have to fine tune the system tomorrow), so i might have to come kick some ass...(or have my ass kicked...)
