Jeeze its dead in here.

What are everybody's winter projects?

I have one oil pan leak to fix, possible a turbo upgrade, we shall see!

Fd3BOOST 12-02-2003 08:05 PM

Beats me.

I need a garage if i do any work. Its way to damn cold for me.

FikseRxSeven 12-02-2003 08:14 PM

Cool, take some pics.

I need to get to this oil pan...Ive been putting it off for too long...

My parents are selling our house so we might not have a garage very soon. I dont want to start some major projects and have the car immobile...

Waiting sucks, I could have done it by now..

ArmyOfOne 12-03-2003 11:35 AM

Bridge port my 12A in the 84 Rx-7.

Just testing out some theory of mine. I will definitely post results.

NaughtyFD 12-03-2003 03:01 PM

Bobby hey any chance we could meet somewhere and I could check out your diff brace? I want to see if it will work on my car.

BTW I pulled the tranny, the car is off the road for a while I am waiting on parts!!

:(

I cant wait for spring to give you and tom a run for your money!!

rfreeman27 12-03-2003 03:43 PM

My diff brace is off the car right now. My car is bent a TAD so the holes didnt line up 100%. It worked, but i want to do it right, so i still need to get off my ass and measure out the hole alignment and send it back to have a new one made.

2gslse 12-03-2003 07:23 PM

I'm gonna finish repairing a fire damaged touring as a streetported single turbo/99 spec body/jimlab bushings and whatever else I can spend $$$ on before my friends have an intervention to slow me down https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...

93 R1 12-03-2003 08:27 PM

its cold. I have parts in the garage waiting to go on, but its COLD

tcb100 12-03-2003 10:01 PM

First step is a Denso competition fuel pump followed by a new Mazda leading coil & a check of my ignition system and grounds with a fine tooth comb.

I have a twin power so I figure a new factory coil is the easiest thing to do unless somebody here has a better idea.

My recollection is that when I put the twinpower on, it really woke the car up. Since most people don't report major changes, my suspicion is I have a weak coil that the twinpower amplifier helped to paper over.

I have some sort of a miss that happens at launch and occasionally when I throw the shift from 1st to second. Wierd. Maybe something is loose. I don't get high rpm breakup though. Of course I have not checked the price of a Mazda coil yet.

Then a serious clutch. I lost one in May and the replacement is not happy either. I need the real thing this time.

NaughtyFD, we be waitin'.

Perhaps get a 2 or 3 disc clutch?

Os Giken's are nice...

Driveable like a stock clutch, and holds whatever you throw at it...

NaughtyFD 12-04-2003 07:16 AM

Oh I am gonna bring it to you and Bobby this spring. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png I just need to beat that 11.60 you broke off at MIR!! Anyone know when Capital or 75/80 or MIR or Dixon open up?

I need a date to push myself while I am outside in the garage. It is too easy right now to say f*&k it I cant take her to the track anyway.

I am hoping for low 11's before the heads/cam swap that I am contemplating this winter.

I really want to get my suspension and tranny bullettproof with the spray before I do the heads/cam but I also want to hear that nasty LOPE that a big cam can deliever.

Also I need to switch out the 4:10 rear witha 3.90 anyone have an old FD auto rear laying around???

tcb100 12-04-2003 07:41 AM

I have looked at the Giken & at the HKS twin plate & the McLeod & the sprung 6 puck from Clutchnet. Still working on it.

I'm also thinking about either a front mount IC, the Pettit large ( a really good buy nowadays) or sticking with my medium IC & adding water injection to use just for track runs at high boost.

Our cars are so sensitive to temps. Truth is nobody runs all that well until the temps drop.

Which reminds me, when Ryan (Rikki) ran his 11.7 it was a horrible Summer day at Atco, humid as hell and in the mid 90s. He had one fast car & a hell of a run.

And naughty FD, low 11s? Who did ya hire to drive for ya? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Why is the tranny out? What are you doing to it?

NaughtyFD 12-04-2003 08:58 AM

I had problems with the T56 so I had to pull it. Got a little something up my sleeve for you guys though. **** low 11's shouldnt be to hard. I figure 13.0 learning how to launching the car and street tires and having to shift into 5th around the 1000 ft so with some ET streets I will be in the low 12's then the giggle gas......put it this way there is a guy running less of a shot then me in a LS1 RX7that is running 11.4's so giddy up

Looks like we have a fight 'a brewing.

I was having second thoughts about building my single turbo...

It's on now baby!

tcb100 12-04-2003 04:03 PM

Great! Bobby goes single, NaughtyFD sprays the hell out of an American muscle V-8 and I do what? .... get a freakin fuel pump!

Time to reconsider the plans.

NaughtyFD 12-05-2003 11:36 AM

Bobby hey no fair with the big single. I read another thread where you were trying to hook up the T78. I might have to step up to Heads and cam too.

Anyone know where I can score a automatic ring and pinion? I have to get rid of these 4.10's!!

No, i dooont think i'll do a t-78. Thats a little big for my goals with the car.

1fastsvn 12-07-2003 07:30 PM

i m putting in my hids as we speak. just finished with the momo wheel. d did my t78 and can't wait till spring to see that baby run. oh yeah, waiting for a supra twin pump this week. when it gets nice i am getting my mazdaspeed replica put it with the 99 blinkers and thinking hard if i should put in the c-west aluminum wing i have in my room. kvn

rfreeman27 12-07-2003 09:43 PM

Yeah, i saw the pics of D's turbo install. It looks really clean. I am considering going with D and just letting him do it, but that all depends.

My house is being sold right now, and the people that *might* settle have to be in the house a month after they sign. That means i would have no place (or garage) to put the car (i guess we will move into an apartment until our other house is done (which hasn't been started yet https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR ))

So just dropping the car off at D's seems like the smart thing to do, but i really want to do the work myself, because i want to learn. I am not worried about D's craftsmanship, but i fear i will not have the same appreciation for the car that i would if i did it myself.

I don't know if that made a scrap of sense...

BTW kevin, your car looked ULTRA clean. You should come out to the drags with the rest of us sometime https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Fd3BOOST 12-08-2003 12:25 AM

Bobby you could just MOVE OUT OF YOUR PARENTS HOUSE! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

T-78 to big?

I never heard of a turbo that is too big. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

1fastsvn 12-08-2003 11:25 AM

hey bobby, i wanted to do it myself too. but i think i would have had a hard time with it. anytime i am messing with fuel, i am better off letting a professional do it. plus he needed to tune it also. oh yeah, i don't have a lot of tools at home. he let me watch when he was doing my turbo. i am tired of working on her all time anyways. i removed the stock twins twice, installed the coilovers, the 1300 injectors when i had them, dp,mp, smic, steering wheel and now onto my hids. that's enuf satisfaction for me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png too many bruised knuckles and it's too damn cold. i am down for the dragracing. i go quite often to capitol raceway. but it's too cold now and i think they are closed. t78 is n't that big very streetable. i will give you a ride if you want https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif just let me check out your seats. kvn

rfreeman27 12-08-2003 01:54 PM

Sure thing.

The sparco's are for sale if you want em...

NO WAY!!

No rent, free food, nobody bothers me, blah blah...

oh and the fact that i'm 16!

I am leaning towards a T04S, easier on the wallet, and should be more fun on the street!

NaughtyFD 12-09-2003 07:11 AM

Its funny bobby no one realizes you are only 16. It says a lot about how you carry yourself. Not to sound like an old man (I am only 28) but you dont act like the stereotypical 16 year old and judging from meeting your dad he would probably give you a good kick in the ass if you did.

either way you arent allowed to be faster than me its a rule the older you are the faster your allowed to go. Thats why I have never run faster than a 11.6 I dont want to break that rule with me and Tom!! :P

tcb100 12-09-2003 11:30 AM

It's a good rule, indeed a great rule, God's rule, a rule to live by, a rule that should be enshrined in the US Constitution, the 11th Commandment I believe!

NaughtyFD 12-09-2003 12:26 PM

rfreeman27 12-13-2003 11:47 PM

Tom, lets see some pics of that cage!

tcb100 12-16-2003 10:23 PM

No cage Bobby, just a roll bar and a side bar. That means I can't go faster than 11.0 flat, stock sequential and a cat.

My digital camera is somewhere in my sons room. Could take awhile to find it.

Depending on how much courage I can muster up, I may be trying to put in a clutch in myself in January, assuming Mike's offer of help (and do I mean HELP) holds.

rfreeman27 12-16-2003 10:55 PM

cage..roll bar...same difference...

Apex13B 12-16-2003 11:02 PM

give me that chevy and you'll be doing 9's...or snapping the car in two

bit of my work here

NaughtyFD 12-18-2003 07:53 AM

Some how I doubt that intake would fit under the hood.

Tom the offer still stands.

rfreeman27 12-26-2003 03:15 PM

Welp i'm shopping for an engine stand and lift, out she comes!

NaughtyFD 12-28-2003 06:51 PM

What happened now bobby you blow her up? or just beefing up for the spring?

rfreeman27 12-28-2003 08:16 PM

Beefing up. I need to redo the oil pan gasket (it was too hard to get it right with the motor installed)

It will also be easier to do the turbo and fuel system with the engine out.

Im pretty sure I am getting a T04S kit in a few days, so things will be good.

PS, think 75-80 will still be open next year? Crazy Bill Wilcomb claims hes going to shut her down, but if he actually will i dont know. We need to carpool up to some of the nicer tracks this summer, that way we have some support on the highway.

Oh man, I cant wait untill next season! Looks like Tom and I have our work cut out for us!

tcb100 12-30-2003 01:49 PM

So I got my stinkin' fuel pump in. Meanwhile Bobby's pulling his motor. I'm flipping coins on an apexi front mount.

Bobby did you find a lift and stand?

Not yet. I need to order some stuff from harbor freight...

I checked all the local places, i want to buy one and not rent it...
