Ok. I was talking about moded cars. Back then they run stock cars with minor work and now look at what we have. I'm talking about cars that make 400+ HP now, that's what I call a moded car not a riced up honda with a filter and a coke can for a exhaust with 160 HP that rice boy material.

Get a 400 HP car from back then and a 400 HP car now and tell me which one will go quicker (Time).

My dad held a local drag strip record in his 1967 Mustang in the K stock class. It had a 289 with 225HP and ran a record holding 14.62.

2002 Mustang GT's run in the high 13's stock.

We do a few mods to our cars and we are playing in the 12's and 11's.

Things have changed a lot. Plus those cars back then were tanks not like todays cars.

Fast and Furious ruined street racing that simple. I saw a transformation in the police force after the first movie.

You used to be able to pick a good race at a red light with out a problem late at night. Now the cops are hiding everywhere waiting for you to do something.

I actually find it better to race in the 5-7 PM range when there seems to be no police presense at all. Unfortunatly there is also a lot more traffic.

As far as "illegals" go they still race them in this town way outside of town on the roads that lead to the farms. No houses for miles no reason for police to be there. Until they decide to do a suprise sweep and protect the general public from the road racing menece that is 30 miles from town.

You could buy hemi powered dodges from the factory with fiberglass fenders and almost 500hp engines. 500hp makes a 4000+lb heap GO fast.

I guarantee that "back then" there was gambling and intense violence just like today. The difference is that people weren't pussies then. If you got your *** kicked, you didn't go home and get a gun and blast the guy who did it....you came back next week and fought him again (with fists) until some type of resolution was reached. Also, there was a lot less police focus on traffic violations...but moreso on real "somebody got victimized" crime. Legislation brought on by those retarded "lefties" hadn't turned sneezing into a felony offense yet either, so you could do **** and get away with it because it wasn't illegal (read, if you were doing something stupid it was assumed that your parents would do the disciplining). The world is ridiculous anymore.... I fear for my kid and the place she has to live in...

I saw the "Downfall" of street racing come with the movie fast and furious. It showed street racing as an illegal act, and kids doing it because theres money in it, purely criminal instead of a enthusiasts passtime. The day it came out someone totalled their lambourghini diablo racing a corvette. And the first thing that came to my mind was "****, hollywood really just had to ruin this for everyone?" Now im getting tickets for loud exhaust, ect, ect.

I have been in one "real" street race. It was VERY "fast and furious" as in, everyone was a ******* tard and not in it for fun. What they wanted to do is prove something. Something that they didnt have in their pants I guess. I raced, I lost, I got mocked cause i said "nice race" or "that was fun"

So I'm not racing anymore, unless it's at the track against someone i know is going to see the fun in it.

If I would have won, and its not like I would have gloated or anything...its for fun! Guaranteed if i would have took them on on the highway or in the twisties I would have raped them. I would have just gave them a nod and took off. No need for a OMG I LIVE MY LIFE A 1/4 MILE AT A TIME

not impressed.

I agree you could see a sharp turn in the attitude by the cops that would break you up before and after the movie. Here before the movie the one or 2 cop cars would drive through turn on the lights and make sure everyone cleared out..they would ticket if you didn't move out fast enough or caught you outright racing or getting ready to. Then a group of mexicans started causing trouble..the shot at the crowd because they got there asses whooped in the parking lot...then the next week another one of them lost a race and his buddy started shooting at one of the spots..both got the cops real pissed. they were hot on us for about a month then cooled down to how it was before that group of mexicans started showing up and causing problems..then the movie came out...well for like a year they were pretty heavy. then they calmed down a tiny bit..but now they have some heavier laws...huge fines and can tow your car...In the last few weeks the have had a few news stories about street racing and how the cops are cracking down on them and trying to eliminate them...before the news would interview racers and get our side a little.. at least show our opinions but now they don't, all one side. they make it out to be just highschool kids and punks...well I know for a fact that its not true you have the older crowd like me and some of my friends, and then there are the really old guys like in there 40's. for us its still about cars and having a good time. and the sad fact is that the streets are really the only place here to run your cars..the closest track is over an hour away and not open to heads up racing or unsponsored racing events.. We do have a local shop that was running unsponsored races but they don't happen often enough to impact the street racing. nor are they at night when most happen.

these issues were brought up many times by street racers (including myself) and options were given to reduce dramatically the street racing..we were told that they were good ideas and they will see what can be done...what the city did was get grants to put more cops on overtime to bust our asses more and more....What is sad is that they can't understand as long as people have cars and like speed they will never stop street racing. They will slow it down but never stop it. They spent **** loads of cash to go after us (including using police helicopters, sherriff and high way pat. ) all that just to get us...I'm pretty sure that there are some real serious crimes being committed...like the serial rapist that wasn't caught...why not dump that man power into something like that?

I agree the movie killed it for everyone. Suddenly you got a bunch of goofballs that enter the scene for "Ken doll" reasons. Because its "in", not because they have an intense love of motorvehicles. Its sad really. I mean hell. Look at your local parts store. I dont mean the real tuner shops. I mean Pep Boys, Schucks, even G.I. Joes and Walmart have shiny garbage for sale. That movie made it look like a majority of street racers had $120,000 cars with 3000 watt stereos.

IMO Every major city (if they had a lick of sense) should have a monitered track. It would cost less in the long run to upkeep and man than it would to keep up the useless attempts at busting morons that cant drive in the first place. The entrance fees could pay for insurance....... Hmmmmm........

Who the hell am I kidding. I dont really care for drags anyway. You can make a Yugo go fast in a straight line.

I've ALWAYS loved cars. Ever since I was little. I remember "helping" my dad change his oil in his truck when I was 4 or 5, and him teaching me how motors work.

I agree though... There are a lot of "2 fast and 2 furious for you" posers out in the world since the movie. A lot of people think they'll be able to touch a spanish girl's boob if they drive a red Integra with a yellow spooge decal. There are WAY too many people that're in it for the wrong reasons now-a-days. Though ***** are always a bonus.

And forget about the cops in South Florida. Ever since the movie, they've been super **** about everything. Especially the night 2 Fast 2 Furious came out. Jesus Christ, that was a sad night in the history of the police force. Pulling people over in cars that even resemble ricey, for anything they possibly could. All night, all you saw were flashing lights and Hondas on the side of the road. Cops with tread meters and bull **** like that. It was really stupid...
