Hi all. I just picked up my first rotary last weekend. A friend of my roommate had a T2 that had been sitting, neglected for a few months now. I bought it with the intention of turning the car into a track/time trial car. The interior was a bit busted up, but the body was straight. Suposively the car ran 6 months ago, but smoked pretty bad the first few minutes until it warmed up. Good news is, the rotors aren't seized to the housings. A big sigh of relief followed the rolling over of the motor. But right now the big thing I need to get cleaned up is some electrical issues. Then I'll finish putting the motor back together and get it to run so I may actually be able to troubleshoot the problems myself. On the plus side, as I was trolling through a pile of receipts that came w/ the car, the motor has only 40k on a rebuild (has me thinking the smoke may be from the turbo oil seals), and the clutch has only 25k miles on them. I think this will be a fun project. I'm hoping to have the car running (not completely sorted out) in a month or 2. If nothing else, it'll certainly be interesting.

Cheers.

Good luck and welcome. I wouldnt worry too much about the smoke unless its a sweet/blue smoke. Rotary like to smoke on startup, especially when they havent been started for awhile.
