It's my third post in here so im sorry if i post this in the wrong category.

My question as the topic reveals is about a crashed FD that i want to buy. Unfortunately i don't have so much money to buy one in good condition and i have found this one.

The damage that it has as far as i know because i haven't seen it yet, is all the left side and invlonves fenders, door etc.. The thing that troubles me and makes me wonder if this car can be fixed as new again, is that the car is totaly crushed on the roof. The whole roof is inside the car. And i wonder if this can be fixed or i will have problems after i fix it? Because i wonder after this fix if this car will its stability change and it will be drivable. I think that is a serious damage because it invlolves the chassis. What do you think?

General rule of thumb for any damaged vehicle (or any need to modify a vehicle): if your pockets are deep enough, it can be done. However, you said something about being a little short on cash to buy a good condition one, but the repairs alone on this car could cost far more. Can you maybe post a picture so we can see the extent of the damage? You may be better off just saving up and buying a good condition one.

You are better off saving up the money from the repairs done to this crashed FD. You can replace fenders, doors, rear 1/4 panels and such. But repairing the chassis is not even worth doing.

i spent about 5k to put mine back together, the whole left side, full repaint, and the front bumper.

The smarter move would be to shop for an FD with a blown motor. Then get the motor rebuilt.



With a wrecked FD you still have to anticipate a new motor on top of all the repairs, its really not worth the money.

I would like firts to thank you for your intrest and your answers. Yes the reality is that i have only 8.000 euros to buy a car and an FD here in my country costs around 20.000 euros one without a broken motor... I was thinking to take a loan for the rest of the money. Now it came this thought insted of buying a good Fd to buy this one and fix it little by little. Unfortunately i havent seen the car yet and i dont have fotos. I will have probably next week some to show you.

But as i said the biggest concerns i have about taking this car is: 1) If after the fix it will be movable this car and won't have stability problems, because the chassis maybe the fixed chassis will change the balance of the car and 2) Is a persnal matter, that unfortunately the guy who was driving this car has died after this crash and i don't feel comfortable enough to drive a car which someone have died in there and a soul have left. I know it may sounds weird for you but i have also this concern... :(

Next week that i will probably meet the brother of this guy and i have more information to give you about the car.

I agree about the idea of someone dieing in a car and not wanting it. Thats pretty creepy.



I would hold out and look for one with a blown engine.

dont buy it. they cost a fortune to fix. I have a crashed fd its hit in the front, and the body shop wants 7,000 to 10,000 to fix. with that much money ill buy a new one. and keep the motor from the old one.
