Ouch. I think the $1.33/gal I pay is too much...

Petrol prices are not the half of it, in fact we get better prices than the UK. The real killer is insurance as I mentioned earlier - it's quite normal for insurance companies to quote $10k - $20k annual premiums for young people in the likes of a modest BMW, needless to say very few take them up on such offers but even still the average premium being paid for young people is around $3000 a year.

And I haven't even started on the prices of new cars - the cheapest new car in Ireland today costs $12k and is a Suzuki Alto . And then there's the cost of housing, a small semi-detached house in Dublin will easily set you back $200k. So as you can see Ireland is not a cheap place to live, I see it as a challenge .

No problemo, we used to have our own pound in Ireland before we started using Euro's, and you get about $1.15 for every Euro.

As for your question re. Automotiveforums, sorry but this is really the only forum I go to apart from another one specific to kit-cars. It's possible you've seen me on yahoo! chat, but I only go there once in a blue moon when I'm in the mood for a decent arguement .
