I currently own a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, and i was pricing everything to do a motor swap, turbo, etc, and i realized it was going to be utterly useless with my budget. I was refered by a friend to look into getting a mazda rx-7. I like what i've heard about rotaries, and i like the rx-7s look. I started scouring craigslist from nebraska down to dallas, and i found an '88 rx-7 gtu for 2600 bucks, the interior looks amazing in the first place for a 24 year old car...and the owner said it runs great, how much of a deal is this, and what things do i need to lok for under the hood, and what things can i look forward to adding/modding on the rx-7 to occupy my time?

Not as familiar with the FCs but I know the model is a dime a dozen, just rare to find a CLEAN one..

If I am correct, the GTU is an N/A, right? The Turbo is a TII?

I would see if the guy has a maintenance log / receipts. How many miles are on it? Is it the original motor?

did you drive it? they are pretty slow. if you buy that car don't think for one minute your not going to mod it. as for parts some are cheap and some things are stupid expensive. what is your budget? if i was you i would keep looking for a turbo.
