I recently bought a TR7 that the owner had swapped in an 86 13b motor. I haven't been able to drive it much, as I haven't been able to take it through emissions yet. I have been starting it up and driving it around the block frequently, and it seemed to run fine. Just recently it started running odd. It seems to have lost a lot of power, and is not running smoothly. At first I thought it ran out of gas, as the guage is not working, but after putting in another gallon, it seems to run the same. Any suggestions on where to start? If one of the rotaries was not firing, would it run on only one? Thanks in advance for any responses.

You would be able to notice it running on only one rotor. It is a very distinct sound. I have heard my old FC run on one rotor, and it was very loud, and spit out alot of smoke. As far as your problem goes, I would not know where to begin.

Welcome to nopistons.com, and post more pictures of the car.

Yeah, more pics please https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png There's 1 or 2 others on here with Triumphs and one guy with an impressive looking Midget. Also, where-abouts are you located, that looks like it could be RHD.

No, it's LHD...I am in Washington. It doesn't smoke, just a puff when it first starts up. If it is really obvious running on one rotary, I'm sure that isn't my problem. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing any damage running it, trying to figure out what the problem is. Here are a couple more pics that I have of the car at this time.

Cool car, I think j9fd3s owns a Triumph TR7. And two people on this forum also have rotary powered midgets. Jeff20b, and Midget-RX(i think?).

Welcome to nopistons!

Try posting in the 2nd generation forum, you're sure to get more replies there. Be sure to include some details, like whether or not it'll rev up, any funny sounds, any smoke, what rpm range lost power, etc. Someone is sure to help you out.
