hello all, i am ryan, and i own a 1991 FC mazda RX-7. i got the car about 2 weeks ago, and allready know of tough love >_>. bought the car for 3500, drove it one day and the clutch died (sticks to floor), we bled it about 6 times to no avail, so we took it to a mechanic. $60 and a new slave cylinder later my car is running. about a week later we take it back to the guy to fix the brakes and found that 3 out of the 4 were siezed completely, and rusted through, so we let him work. 3 days later and $500 shorter (due to rust and stuffages) my car is back up and running again. my only other problems with the car is that the speedometer doesnt work because the guy i got the car from took a bunch of loose wires (from removing a bunch of aftermarket items) and snipped them at the ecu. well one was the speedometer, so now i try to just follow traffic cause that 7 can fly when i aint paying attention. anyways, just wanted to stop in and say hi, try and get to know some of yall.

Welcome to nopistons!

If the speedometer on a '91 is anything like one on an '86, it's mechanical, not electrical. There's a cable that screws into your transmission, and screws into the back of your gauges, and that's it.

I think you are thinking of the tachometer on the S5 Baldy, could be wrong though.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.
Are you saying that the tachometer operates off of a rotating cable from the transmission???
