Hi all.
I've been a closet rotary fan since i saw a gen 1 in improved production slaughter a new porsche at a race meet my cousin was racing his mini at.
studies, surfing and 4 wheel driving kept me broke for a while, but when my brother got a line on a clean 1985 series 111, that was a set of rear tires away from daily driveable, i had to own it.
so now i'm the proud owner of a PINK/PURPLE/BLUE/GREY 12A manual FB. starts first go without any choke, idles all day everyday at 500rpm, and pulls smoothly to past redline. never moves above 1/4 on the temp guage, and always has over 2 oil pressure. blows no smoke, and gets 10l/100k's on the freeway. steering has no play or slop, and suspension is firm with no clunks, struts are good. it also has an imobiliser, remote start, central locking and neat paint. all for less than 1/2 the redbook value.
i actually bought it 3 months ago, but it's taken this long to pry the keys from my brothers hands
a few niggles to fix (interior cracked dash, slow power windows, a few accessories disconnected) but those are on the cards for fixing in the next couple of weeks. then it's on to turbo (either blow through propane 12a low boost turbo, or a complete series 5 swap)
so i look forward to picking your brains, and hopefully learning enough to help out others in time. i've got a decent amount of mechanical, automotive electrical, and car audio knowlege, so hopefully i can contribute to the forum.

thanks for the comments guys. she is everything i wanted + more.
might as well put it in here.
i'm paranoid about doing cold engine startup damage.
my warm up routine consists of starting it with the choke just cracked on, letting it idle for around 5-10 min (enough to get the fuel guage to start moving), then i drive it, keeping it under 2000 rpm until it hits operating temp, then i'll take it up to 4 grand. after about 15 min of driving, is when i'll start full throttle/reving it out properly,
any issues with my start up technique?
