My first RX7 was purchased new in 1979. It replaced my RX4 Wagon, which replaced my RX3 Coupe. I have had several RX7s since then and my current one is a 1988 Turbo II that I purchased back in 1994. It had been sitting for a while when I bought it and it had a broken Apex Seal so I installed a Factory Re-Manufactured short block. The car would buck at high revs and no one could figure out why. I drove it to my local Mazda dealer and after they had it for about three weeks they towed it back to me along with a re-manufactured short block in a crate and no engine under the hood. They couldn't figure it out either! After I reinstalled the second engine the problem still existed. I ahd one issue wher on sharp left turns the engine would stll out , but only when the fuel tank was below a quarter full. I discovered that the fuel tank baffle had rusted away and it clogged the fuel filter as well. I repalced the tank and filter which fixed the stalling in a turn, but it still bukked at high speed. I t has been sitting idle for over six years and I have just now decided to get it running again. I removed the Intake and discovered that the car had non-turbo injectors in it and I am replacing them as well as all of the vacuum lines. Hopefully this time the car will run like it should!
Sorry for the lenght of this post, but I need to get this off of my chest!!
