Have a few minutes here at work, so thought I'd get on with some sort of an introduction..

I'll start by saying I don't actually have an RX7 yet. I do have money in the bank and will have enough to buy a FD, cash, in December or January. I have been lurking the board for some time, after lurking at "the other forum" and not even wanting to post due to an abundance of less-than desirable attitutes. I find nopistons to be much more inviting, with more useful information and knowledge being shared - not argued.

I plan on running the FD as a crossbred Street Car (Not daily) / Open Track (Summit Point) / and AutoX. I will be aiming for the magic 400HP mark, as many others seem to be as well. Spool time is obviously going to be a factor in this build, so at present I'm planning on installing one of the GT35R kits. Upon purchase of the car, the following will be performed more or less immediately:

Suspension Overall: TEIN Flex, EDFC, Replace all Pillowball Mounts, Select Jimlab Bushings, Racing Beat Front & Rear Swaybars, Cusco D-Shape Front Tower Bar & Rear Tower Bar, and Pettit Swaybar Reinforcement.

Base Engine Mods: Koyo Radiator, AST Bypass, OEM Water Pump, Goodridge S.S. Oil Metering Lines, Silicone Hoses, OEM Radiator Hoses, Fuel Filter, Magnacore 10mm Wires, J&S Safeguard

Drivetrain: Exedy Stage 1 Clutch w/ Bearing, OEM Master Cylinder, OEM Slave Cylinder, S.S. Clutch Line

Some of these may look overkill for what I am calling my Stage 1, but note I do plan on buying a 75k mile+ car. Also, I need the car ready for the start of the 2006 AutoX season so that I can get my 2 races in for Mazdaspeed membership approval.

After those initial things, I will be upgrading the fuel system. Complete with an Aeromotive Pump, Aeromotive Filter, Aeromotive FPR, Primary and Secondary Rails, upgraded supply / return lines, and the rest of the goodies including the PFC w/ Datalogit.

I do believe I'll be rebuilding my first motor myself. After a ton of research I have deemed this the best way to go. Also, atter reading through the Mazda shop manual - rebuilding a 13b looks extrememly easy. I have rebuilt quite a few piston motors (4g63T, 5.0 & 4.6 SOHC Mustang, Honda B-Series) and in comparison, a 13b -looks- to be cake. I will be utilizing a street port (possibly extended) and OEM Mazda 2mm seals. Potentially rotor lightening as well along with a complete rebalance. Ceramic coating will be applied in all the normal places.

Thats it for my intro. Unless you want to know where I'm digging all this money up, to which my answer is that I'm a cell phone network engineer based in Northern Virgina (Live in MD though) I'll probably be asking a lot of questions any contributing as much as possible based on by piston tuning experience. Which reminds me, previous cars I've built include a 1997 Eclipse GST, 1996 Mustang GT, and a 1988 CRX Si (Motor Swap). Not including work performed on many a friends car. Looking forward to my first rotory and all the headaches that are sure to follow =)

Matt

I've been finding seemily good condition, allthough semi-high mileage cars for between $10500 and $12500. Being that I will be replacing pretty much everything, my main concern is that is has a clean body and frame.

Thank you. I research the hell out of anything before I get too deep in it. Like to have a solid game plan laid out to avoid as much hassle as possible when I start pulling stuff together. Lessons learned from previous experience. Plus I realize how fragile the 13B can be if not trated right, no margin of error like I once had in piston land.
