Hmmmm? Not many clues to what you are wanting.

Either an RX-8 or an FD?

Do you want a boosted ride, or do you want an N/A ride?

How much are you willing to spend?(Not the car itself, the modifications you will buy down the road, because it is an addiction like crack)

An FD is a confusing car(well, for me). I would go with an RX-8 since it is new, and not many problems come out of it. The only problem I hear off is people going through the transmission REALLY QUICK. And the horsepowers that mazda said where a lie on the RX-8.

Decisions decisions. Give us some more clues and what you want. And it does seem to me you know what a rotary is. Your signature is RIGHT ON THE MARK. Baddest car ever developed racing wise.

Well, i like the FD cause of the performance, its cheaper to buy, looks good, and i dont have to worry about ruining any warranty when i do mods to it. But then the RX8 also looks good, has 4 seats, has warranty (so i cant do many mods), and better gas mileage (i think). I dont know what to do.

Go Old Skool!!

Rx-3 or RX-2!!

Then with the reams of money left over get a good commuter car! Mazda 3 for example.

I'm in the same predicament,

I have owned two FDs in the past (a '92 & '93 - both red) and am now (supposed to be) a responsible family man.

My last FD was written-off a few years ago and so I have been driving a '98 323 Protege while I get a handle on the kids edu and the mortgage.

I drove the RX-8 recently and was quite impressed with it - it's the perfect car for me in many ways as I could really do with the extra seating (just ask my wife) to take the kids to sport etc. I loved the engine (a bit lacking in torque, but I'm unfairly comparing it to an FD), and the 6-speed - all in all a great package and a deserved winner of the Wheels COTY.

However at $70k for the optioned version it's a big ask for me financially.

I am currently leaning toward a second-gen FD (maybe '96) for around $40-$45k - that way I save around $500 per month on a lease.

And I'll keep the 323 to take the kids to footy, and the FD will be the week-day blaster.

Now if I can only convince the missus (they don't understand logic like that you know)...
