I didn’t post anything in this forum when I began using the site regularly a couple of months ago. Although I guess that I’m new I really didn’t feel like I was, since I had joined a while back and had read some of the info on the site. But, I hadn’t posted. I got my FD in the middle of October. Rx-7s had become sort of a sore subject for me in recent years. I wasn't sure if I could really afford an FD or if the time came when I could afford would there be any good ones still around. I had had 2 FCs: a 1991 na I purchased new and owned for a couple of years and an 1988 GXL I bought in 1996 and kept until 2004. Loved ‘em both.

Got the ’91 late in the year. The guy at the dealership was already telling me about the FD but I knew I couldn’t afford one. A few months later my buddy bought one of the yellow mica R-1s, new. The uniqueness of the car, the performance, styling, the color with the subtle metal flake in the paint I thought was beautiful, I was hooked! But, for years I was never really sure if I could afford one. Still not entirely sure, I started shopping in the spring of ’08. Made trips to Tampa, Louisville, and Cincinnati. I alternated back and forth between getting excited about buying and anxiety about whether I should put out that kind of money on a 15+ yr old car. Found one in mid October and took the leap. Ferrari, Lambo, Vette, Porsche, you couldn’t give me anything else I would be happier with.

All the knowledge of the folks here is pretty impressive, in particular in the area of performance and modifications. I have done a total of ZERO mods on all of my rotaries. When the time comes I’m bringing all my questions here.

Thanks to those who maintain the site and all who contribute. The info here really helped me get prepared to make what was a very important and meaningful purchase for me.

He had it last I talked to him - but that was 11 yrs. ago. Car looks great in that color. Only one of those I've ever seen.
