hey im thinking of picking up my first rx7 next week. I know a little bit about rotaries but not alot.

It is a clean 88 GXL with 120,xxx miles. It needs a mass air flow sensor. my friend has one extra so im going to take it to try it out while im down there. I will drain the old gas before starting it. Anymore things I should really be looking for?

thanks

Welcome to nopistons!

Do a compression test. It's quick and easy, and gives you a clear view of the health of the engine (and the car doesn't necessarily have to run to do it, just the starter needs to turn).

If compression is dead in any spots (as opposed to 3 solid pulses on each rotor), it needs a rebuild. If it's blowing coolant or oil smoke out the exhaust, it might need a rebuild.

Other than that, the rest is pretty much like any other car.
