Hello All, I Have A 12a Rx-7 And Want To Fix It Up

And by fix it up, well what I really mean is that, I want to turn it into a auto crossing, road racing, drag racing demon, that is still streetable. But I really need some help and ideas before I can turn the rotor around. Ok here are my plans.
Swap the carb 12a with a fuel injected 13b 2 or 3 rotor.
Put in a 5 speed 13b trans (I don't know if I can use the 12a trans)
Convert the live axle into an independent rear suspension.
Replace the gas tank with a fuel cell and place it in a safer location.
Complete new interior with a roll cage.
State of the art complete standalone engine management system.
And make it look close to stock, but with nice paint and good wheels.
If anyone can help me out with some ideas, I would be very thankful.

Anyways, MrBoo, Welcome. FB's have a live axle? Vs. IRS? Hmm, didn't know that.
Your idea has been done before, I'm sure with enough research you can find out how big of a trip both time/energy and $$$-wise it was.
Worth it? Perhaps, I'd rather have all the forementioned in the beautiful shell/layout of the FD but if its a track car it does't have to be super-pretty

Yes the axle back there is one huge thing. Solid axle, stright axle, or just "like the axle on a truck." It can turn nice, but I would like the most I can get out of it. I want to get the car so it is very pretty, sexy even, and smoke just about any modern car out there. I got a thing for 80s cars. Thanks for the luck, because I will need it.
