(private closed course, do not attempt)

I'm out driving around Sunday morning and I just roasted a new normally aspirated Porsche 911 and a Mustang GT with a bunch of stickers. I then spot a WRX/STI so I zing up next to him and give it a tap on the throttle. He gives it a zip and whistle from his aftermarket BOV. I noticed his new HKS carbon Ti exhaust too so I guess the guy had a couple mods. Moving on , we stage up about 45MPH and I let him take off first. From second I rip out 5000K to 7500K and pull by the guy with about two car lengths by the time I hit third. I run third out with leaving him about six or so lengths back, but he was still hanging. Being amazed by Subaru I hit 4rth for a moment and drop off to coast down to play a bit more figuring he may have had a problem the first time around. I also wanted go give him a chance to unload his water spray on his intercooler.(Stock, the WRX/STI has a manual water spray for the intercooler) We hit it again and again I spank the guy. We roll to a stop, I'm guessing the guy wants to play his 4wd game out of the hole so I give it to him. We talked a bit out the windows of our cars with his first question being the regular "how much boost are you running?" I reply"stock, just down pipe and cat back" LOL. He was a nice guy. We take off and I roasted him again.

I don't believe my FD is all that quick, but it's pleasant to know it can still hang with these newer cars.

I cant wait to run into an sti on the road. I saw one the other day at the local autoX... he didnt run though, wtf! But yeah, they are nice cars by all means. Only problem i see with them is the price tag. too much for a wrx in my opinion.

It seemed the WRX/STI did well at the top end of its rpm range, but from the bottom of it's rpm range it gave me time to pull. Judging by the volume and sound of his BOV and rev hits this guy knew how to shift through the gears pretty snappy. The guy was hanging in there. Keep in mind these Subarus have an advertised curb weight of 3263lbs. That's 400lbs heavier than a stock FD and about 500lbs heavier than an FD that somebody has gone and lightened things up a bit.
