 I'm a big fan of the WRX, and I think the question you pose isn't one that is fair. I didn't know much about about rotary power untill I worked with two guys that own a 2nd gen and a 3rd gen. So back to the question at hand I don't think putting a single turbo against twin sequential turbo's is a really fair fight. That would be like putting a second against a third and you all know the outcome of that. So it should be a WRX vs. a FZ, and the answer I don't know but it would be a good race.

What's an FZ?

well I dont think 1.3 liters is fair against 2.2 liters... a lot of displacement difference.... dont use that kind of argument...

But if the WRX is a 5spd manual I think it will get the FD for at least the first 60 feet. AWD launches are wicked.... but the FD will begin to pull the wrx back in and pass him.... I raced a GSX Eclipse and this was the same outcome! He killed me off the line and through 2nd gear. I hit 3rd and began making it up around the end of 3rd (which is roughly a 1/4 mile) I was ahead.... so I give this nod to the FD. Which is a ******* sweet ass car!

Yep! I pulled on that WRX NO prolemo AFTER 2nd gear. I normally beat everyone on the launch(I launch mad quick), but the AWD definitely got the best of me. <_<

First off an FZ is a second gen. 7. Now to reply to the others. The arguement I made was not about displacement, it was about the fact that you are asking if a car with a small single turbo can keep up with a car that has twin, count them 2 sequential turbo's so therefor, no turbo lag boost from start to finish. You guys are also right saying that 7's are bad ass cars. I certainly give em big props. :yinyang:

do u mean FC. i dont know where they call 2nd gens FZ's.

1Revvin7 09-06-2002 10:41 AM

its hard to say in any race, most ppl can't drive and launch horribly. I've beaten plenty of cars that should have stomped me for this reason alone.

:ph34r:Sorry about that I misheard someone. It is FC

Just because a car has two turbos doesnt mean it is any faster. The fastest rx-7's are single turbo. I'm sure the wrx wasnt experiencing much lag either (stock turbo=tiny). And to the fool who said 1.3 liters isnt a fair comparison to 2.2 liters, 2 things.

1. The only WRX's that come with a 2.2 liter engine are the japanese 22b imprezas, the american rexs come with the EJ20T (2 liter)

2. If youre going to be comparing displacement (which IMO is pointless), the 13b is functionally a 2.6 liter engine.
