So my buddy and i were out yesturday in my 88 TurboII AE, just doing a daily cruise to get some coffee before going back to class. Well since our cars don't really have cup holders he almost spilled our coffee's on my floor and i pulled over to the side of the road(single lane each way). After everything was all set I looked up to merge back onto the road as some kid downshifts his black VW Corrado (VR6 badge on the back) and flies by me...With that my buddy yells, go f*ckin get him. So i redline through first and second and by third i was on his bumper and itchin to pass while his car was whinning high in the top of his gear. As soon as i heard him upshift, i floored it in third and passed him with ease and kept going. All we could do is laugh at the fact that i was completely stopped and he passed me at about 40 and accelerating, and i still caught up and passed him. I actually thought those cars were fast, at least the supercharged ones were..My car is completely stock by the way. Thought you would like the story.

 

the supercharged ones are supposed to be slower..... but yeah i thought they'd be faster than that........ way to embarass him

 

There's a guy in my small town with a Corrado. He keeps talking a good talk, we all know he won't be able to Walk the Walk.

 

Jeez I love those cars. There's one 2 minutes from my place.

 

The supercharged ones are low boosted, 145HP 1.8l 4 cyl. The vr6 is a N/A 170hp 15degree V6. Stock I have to tell you the VR6 corrado is a peppy little car that handles very well. I can tell you right now that either his car was automatic, or he had no clue how to drive. A vr6 can hang with a N/A FC no problem.

I can tell you as the first person on the east coast to turbocharge a VR6 Corrado from scratch that that motor has lots of HP potential. But I took that car to it's limits, and moved on to my FD

 

I have a turbo II anniversary edition, 1988 with 36,000 original miles, all stock. He had nothing with that thing.

I raped a vr6 and a cougar at the same time, in front of a whole bunch of college babes back in the n/a days....

 

corrado's are nice lookin cars in my opinion...... and vr6's have a lot of potential......... heck i have a couple of freinds that are running 10's in their vr6 jetta's
