well, it was bound to happen eventually, I have read about racing and studied how to do it, and practiced in my old accord, but until now, never had the chance to do a real, line up drop in slam down race. it is incredibly addictive. It started out with a 99-2000 VW golf with some rims that was doing the mating dance at me (zooming ahead, dropping back, changing lanes) as luck would have it, we pulled up to a red light with nothing in front of us for at least a half a mile, me in the center lane, and him to my right, when I notice a 99 integra coming up behind me, it pulls up on my left, and starts revving, LOUD. So I hold the tach at about 4000-4500, and when the light turns I just dump the clutch, it was kind of fun feeling the back end go sideways, almost into the integra, i didn't catch any traction at all until about 6k, redlined and chirped into 2nd gear, by this time the vw was out of the picture about 3 carlengths behind me, with the integra at my rear quarter panel, after winding out 2nd the integra was even with me, passed as I shifted, I almost caught up, but he shifted, lurched, and started walking away, I shut down half way through fourth, the integra slowed down to give us a thumbs up, as the golf did a ricer flyby, the thing is, the integra is supposedly stock, but the exhuast sounded incredibly loud to me, what kind of numbers do these cars normally put out? I will have to talk to the owner of that acura soon (my friends manager) and find out if there is anything funny going on under the hood.

cool. that experience its exhilarating. I personally havent raced anything but rx7s. since i tought my car could be faster than it is. But yeah, its like a drug, once youve tried it you always want more.

Also, it would be nice to know what mods you got.

Do you still need a motor?

SoniX 03-30-2002 12:47 AM

Mods, hmm, well, none, unless you count the cone filter replacing the air box, which I really don't. other than that, it is bone stock, with some oddness in the 1-2 shift, feels like the synchros aren't quite working right, maybe that is normal?

YucA 03-30-2002 10:24 AM

hp of the integra depends if it was in LS or a GSR. GSR has like 180 i think, i could be wrong... wut part of Fl u from?

SoniX 03-31-2002 01:24 AM

I am in West Central FL, Sarasota, it is about 45 minutes south of Tampa.

I know somebody who will probably be getting rid of an 88 NA motor. It runs pretty well.

Rob x-7 04-03-2002 05:40 PM

Is it compleate? Keep me informed, while the engine in the car now is 100% compleate, I dont want to be dicking with putting one together, and if the price is right, Ill get the car running.

haha, after almost a week I decided to check the kills section. Yes i need a motor, but im being kinda **** and cheap about it. i just dont want any motor. And it has to be series 5 N/A and below 500 bucks unless its a complete motor(intake, manifolds, harness, ecu), everything needed to just drop it in case the date for the BBQ draws near.

if you know anything let me know. I was thinking about just getting any running 13B, but i really want a series 5. I prob can get a whole 88 rx7, running(last time I checked) with around 100k miles, for like 300 - 400 bucks.

The idea of going turbo is floating around in my head, but i doubt it will happen.

thanks

I may also be selling my motor, but I'm going to install it first to give test drives.

Rob x-7 04-05-2002 03:55 PM

Traceb, the car I "need" the motor for is a spare convertible I have, so its not super important, but if a good deal comes up, I would like to get the car running again so I can perhaps paint it, clean it up, and god forbid perhaps make some money for my house-buying fund, lol. Jim- youre talking about YOUR motor are you??? Im guessing perhaps the motor that came out of your car? hehe- you can test it in my other car if you want.

vosko 04-05-2002 04:02 PM

i should change the name of this thread to 13BAce's House of Used Engines https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

My friend has a 90 NA motor that he may swap into an 88 NA, but the 88 motor runs pretty well.

Yes, my motor is the one from my convertible, not the old piece of junk in my garage. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I may want to get rid of it to get some money for now, and to have an excuse to go with a 93 or 3 rotor next year.

Rob x-7 04-05-2002 04:30 PM

I think the turbo engine is a bit out of my means right now, basically Im looking for a decent engine to put in the other convertible, I mean it is a 1988, but I dont want to screw someone over either with a p.o.s engine. Does the engine you took out run decent? Feel free to p.m me with any details if you so desire.

I sent you a PM.

treceb 04-08-2002 07:06 AM

ok, so what do u have for sale. series 5, 4 or turbo. I can probably get a whole car, 88, for 400 dollars with a good engine. Is the difference between a series 4 and 5, "high compression" motor so minimal that it wouldnt make that much of a difference in an NA car?

Rob x-7 04-08-2002 08:08 AM

A whole car for $400 is a great deal. You could always take the motor, tranny, whatever you need, sell other parts from it, and probably get some of your money back. Or just sell the car without the motor for a couple of dollars.

The S4 motor only makes an extra 14 HP, which could be made up pretty easily. Right now it looks like my friend's 88 motor is sold.
