So, I just leave the shop and i'm heading to I-5 to get some grub and I pull up to the light a few blocks before the freeway on ramp next to an S-10 Extreme. I roll down the tint and give him props on his ride and this fool runs it up and dumps it at the red. Smoke is just boiling off the tires, he finally stops, the smoke clears and he says "you wanna go?" HMMM let me think..FUUUUCK YEEES. I love to waste these ******* (stats: mild built Vortech V6, Hypertech programmed, Airaid cold air box/cone filter, cat back flowmaster 2.5" dual outlet, NOS, 245/50/ZR16 Falkens) I'm holdin @ 3500,

light turns yellow on the cross street, dumped the clutch, my little bitch V6 came alive, the *** end slightly walked right in first, bashed second, bashed third looked to the rearview, had him by 4 or 5 lenghts no Nos.. Left on to the freeway on ramp bashed back throught the gears from downshift to fourth and puffed the NOS just to rub it in, Radar detector buries the needle I downshift hard and stand on the binders, The Extreme flies by me probably 80+ ooops busted. SUCSESSFUL EXTREME KILL # 4

Good kill and nice truck. Hey, what kind of engines are in those Xtremes anyways? I have always wondered how much power they had.

2.2 4 cylinder... not a threat to even an N/A auto from what I have seen...

4.3 V6. In 5 spd trim they can be pretty quick. Though they tend to lay down a bit in the upper speeds. But nice trucks. Pretty Reliable motors.

The Gm 4.3 V6 has been around for a while. And it is a strong motor. I believe the 4.3 V6 in S10 trim makes between 175-190hp depending on model....

4.3 liter vortech (stock) puts out 180hp @ 4400 rpm 245fpt @ 2800 rpm

in a two wheel drive. 4x4 is a little higher. basically a 350 with two pistons cut off, damn those pistons anyway, they should have put a turbo rotary in it !

im not sure if it was the answer to the SS S-10 but most of the Extreme pickups are turds; extra cab, 250lbs of stickers and body kit parts, and automatics like the SS pick-ups. My truck has the same ZQ8 sport suspension package (minus the stickers and skirt kit) excet im on 16" x 8", Extreme's are on 15' X 7'.

And contrary to popular belief there is only one 4.3 liter engine offered by Chevrolet for the S-10. Ther is no H.O.4.3 liter V6, however the is an ho in the code for this option on an LS package S-10, maybe that is where this rumor originated from. Who knows

My buddy has a '92 s10 w/ 4.3 V6 w/ 200+ thousand miles and STILL runs great...he's got a 650cfm(its big, cant remember exact number)..computer chip and 2.5" exhaust...thats it...he ran a 10.6 in the 1/8th...not TOO bad. It's 2 wheel drive...I'm just shocked it still runs after how he drives it!

I owned an extreme until I bought my 7. It was ok. I put a K&N FIPK on it with a 160 degree thermostat and reprogrammed it with the Hypertech. I also had a Flowmaster exh. with 2.5 inch piping (dual outlet) and some Yokohama A520 tires for grip. Stock it came with 180hp at the flywheel. It had the 4.3l V6 and the 5spd tranny with 3.08 rearend gears. Best time in the 1/4 was 16.0. Not a bad truck but no NOS for extra get up and go. BTW they came stock with 16x8 inch rims and the ZQ8 suspension. You would have handed my *** to me with the NOS but it would be close without it.

I got offered mid-late 90's something Extreme trade for my seven when it was NA... I passed. Its a nice looking truck, but did not have the power potential nor acceleration to be worth my seven.

If I remember correctly my truck ran mid 15's w/o NOS, They told me because of liability I could not use it and that I would be thrown out

(Late Night Drag ********) I had to take the f'n bottle out and leave it with officials until I left. As for the Extreme version S-10 I could have copped one but I went for the LS shorty instead, Chevrolet can keep their extra weight, stickers, and skirt kit. Besides, when you throw that 3.08 rearend away and stuff a possi 4.10 in there, That little S-10 really ***** and gets.
