Let me clear something for you guys.. RX8 isn't made for power nor to really mod (to clearify, Renesis). I've driven the 8, 2 weeks after it was delivered to local dealership. It was good, but in comparison to FD, you could feel the weight and underpower.



Regarding the engine, its hard to mod. Why, go look at the porting system. its not made to make power.. they designed it not for power but for something else.



Also for the guy who said, "take the turbos off" of an FD and see which is faster.. Come on! NO low compression engine could compete with high compression engine.. Its like me saying, why don't you turn up your boost to 20lb and I turn my boost to 20lbs and race?? At the end of the road, your engine will be toasted...



Another thing... Its so much harder for someone to turbo charge an 8. I'm glad someone has worked around the OBD2 and other junk, but those who have tried it, at the end, they goto 13bREW or 20B to make real power. Adding turbo to high compression engine means you are taking bigger risks then US FD owners and have to be very knowledgeable in tuning.... And its not good for daily in my mind.

I can easily be friends, i'm a nice guy... many people from the forum know me and agree... i'm sorry you think i'm attacking the FD..



I noticed your in MD.. I actually live in northern VA and would be glad to show you my 8... you can see the tuning, the styling, the handling, the braking, etc and I promise it will NOT drive anything like any other 8 you have ever been in... it gets the looks too, i promise...if there was a way to see who's car has had more eyes on it, i'd love to go against you in that competition....



I was going to go take a pic of my VIN to show you the JM1FE on the 8, but somebody already clarified it... i thought that since the others were JM1FC and JM1FD respectively.. it was safe to refer to the 8 as an FE...



I'd pretty much say this thread is dead... to each their own or to some, own them all....

Chassis codes are different for america and japan. Its a FE in america but SE3P in japan. But they have allways been that way. The FC for example is FC3S in japan, but in america the vin would allways start with JM1FC33... no S





Also by that logic if the RX8 is called a FE wouldnt that make a new RX7 a FF? NOOOOO!!!!! Dude I got the FF rx7 man!

I don't think its the fact that you were attacking the FD.. Just that you think FE (RX8) engine is better than FD's without knowing the differences. Both in my mind are different engines. Its like calling inline 6 and V6 to be the same. Sure they have pistons.. but layout is different. Just as Renesis and 13Bs are different.



about the future 7s... Well, I just hope they dont put in a Renesis 2 rotor..

I dont think the renesis is a better motor...trust me... its a bitch to hold 8.5psi on it, lol... I was just defending them because a lot of people think they are junk and cant be fast.. they can be... we're all spoiled because we own a car that can make power... 300whp in the 8 is crazy for a daily driver... lots of fun...

Hey, I never said junk. Just different. To be honest, for an NA rotary to make that much power is impressive. They did do a good job on the engine, just not meant to be FI'd.



So, what are your running on your 8?? Just curious what type of ECU and how did you wired it all up?? Any issues with OBD2's or traction?

I'm running the microtech ecu along with the stock ecu. Thus far no real issues with obd2, just fine tuning the maps and its good... the only issue I have with the traction is keeping it, lol. I have 19" wheels w/ 275 tires on the rear and it still likes to get sideways.. I'm running about 7-9psi (the greddy wg sucks) with a turbosmart boost controller.. i'm swapping the boost controller out for the profec-b and trying to dial it in at a solid 8psi... the rest of the motor is stock essentially.. greddy turbo kit w/ the microtech...screw the emanage....that thing blows... exedy clutch, greddy catch can, jic suspension, volk wheels, 6pot projectu brakes, sparco seats, defi gauges and relocated battery... thats the gist of it... oh and the mazdaspeed kit w/ a seibon cf hood...
