The civics that are running down the tracks in NA form are cool from a technology stand point, but a classic V8 it'll never be. I'd take a v8 over a honda motor any day. Sound and performance.
That being said, and this applies to most 4cyl vehicles. When they are running down the track...or they have 400hp+...it's no longer the car it was meant to be... not saying there is anythign wrong w/ that... but look at it this way....
CRX has to swap to get power, whereas an FC or FD can use the existing powerplant to get there. There are tons of 11 and 10 second FDs w/ the 13BREW in them... not stock, but still...same motor. Those civic boys need big motors w/ high compression to compare to an rx7.
I tell everybody the same thing...You can modify anything and make it fast...it doesn't mean you should. A civic was built for economy, and the rx7 was a flagship sports/super car. At the end of the day, you still get out of civic..and where's the pride in that!

anything can be made fast....i could take a geo metro 3 cylinder and punch it out to run 12's with enough money. where i am biased against civics and such is the FWD, its just a personal preference that i hate driving a fwd car and how it behaves in corners and such (although they can still corner if modified well, i just dont like the feeling of a FWD)

I had a Mazda 323 GTX line up against my Turbo II one day and I was laughing as it was blowing off at me, I stopped laughing after it sped away from my 240hp FC.

The GTX was also AWD...so yea, not in the same class as a civic, lol...thank god. AWD turbo civic? then maybe they'd have a sports car...

Ha I believe this has happened to everyone. I got owned by a EK9 civic hatch It hurt but I got over it. Civics dont always suck in the turns either. Plenty of civics do well at track. . . IE: SCCA run offs have alot of civics do fairly well.

I always thought Civic's were **** cars. Until I saw a 1989 Civic hatchback (single turbo) smoke my friends 1990 SR20 ( 250hp estimated ) powered S13. It was funny though becuase when they pulled out to race. My friend took off sideways down the road, then the civic pulls out and stalls. I was luaghing, but then it made me think...stalling... OH! hes a got a hard grabby clutch! We talked to the owner of the Civic later that night and he said he only spent about 5K on modding the car. He also had nothing for interior, but a custom roll cage. He also was making well over 300hp on a single turbo setup. This thing was the biggest sleeper. It was all rusted in places, but I gave him props on the modifications he had done to the car ( power wise ) He turned out to be a cool kid. He also has a FC RX-7 that he is building up.
Also, Isnt a twin turbo civic impossible? I mean with just one turbo there is barely enough room in the engine bay. Unless he extended the front end of his car? haha
