im driving home from class... making a right turn and merging into three lanes of traffic which were all clear... dude in a blazer cuts me off right as im in the middle of the turn from the outside lane. instead of hitting the brakes i swerved left to go behind him and into a free lane... car fishtailed i countersteered too much and ended up going over two square curbs. damage: rusty exhaust completly torn off and trashed. left side rims both dented to hell and tres are flat(not sure if they have holes are if just wont hold air cuz of the rims). so until i can repace the entire exhaust... get 4 rims and possibly tires.. no car for me... on the plus side im sure my car lookd great while i caught three feet of air off the curb... ******* chevy

Man your situation sounds all to familiar man......I am new to this forum but I have been reading it for a few weeks now. I just bought my first RX-7 (88 GTU N/A stock 90,000 miles mint condition) and I move to Tampa. I have owned the car for 9 days and a guy crosses a 45 mph speed limit state road right in front of me and I hit the brakes and slide in to the curbed median. I was lucky and I only have to replace my two passenger side rims and have a mild fender dent pulled out where the tire bounced up through the wheelwell and dented the fender from underneath. I feel your pain man.

I successfully navigated out of the way of the vehicle and was repaid by the perp speeding off without a witness to stop and help me. No plates to blame it on and a 500 dollar deductible.

The progressive insurance guy is handling finding the 15" stock alloy rims. But there was a place in Tampa called transwheel that supposedly quoted 154 a piece refurbished and then they backed out so Progressive went to "Sam the Hubcap Man" lol. He is having refurbished rims delivered one week from now @ 240 a piece refurbished. Talking to the RX-7 specialist @ the Mazda Courtesy Dealership here in Tampa gave me some real insight in to maintenance on the Rex and we priced out what the new GTU alloy rims would cost new......540 bucks a piece for the new alloy rims. I told Progressive that refurbished rims are fine ...but if I find a hairline scratch or even a pinhead sized mar on any square inch of the rims that I will be sending the refurbs back and they will be sending me 600 bucks more to get me new rims. No idea on the body work to pop that one dent out yet.

I hate being without my baby...and every night I sit here and drool over supercharger parts on the web....I need my baby back so I can start modding.

o and btw the only good thing that came out of this mess for me was meeting the guy that is going to be working on my Rex. He owns 4 RX-7s. 3 -2nd gens (one being a turbo vert) and a 3rd generation. He showed me his recent street porting job on one of his engines and his lightweight racing rotors ready for his vert. I am in good hands
