I don't know what all he had done but the exhaust tone sounded like ass (no offense guys but I have never heard a nice sounding RX-7 *including mine*) but he took me for a ride in it and I had to carry around a napkin so I didn't drool over his race seats. So we got back to the crowd of people (every sunday a mass of racers meet at a parking lot) and everyone was saying that I should race the RX-7. I look at him and he said "its up to you, if you think you can beat me" I snickered and went to get into my car while the whole parking lot went and got in theirs. We all went out to this two lane road that everyone races on and we got next to eachother. I back up some and do a burnout to get the Nittos nice and warm. Roll back up to the start and we go on 3rd honk. I get him out of the hole by about half a car length and at the top of 4th I had 4 car lengths on him. I don't think he exactly knew what I had done and I don't think that he knew how much I was drooling over his car. This is the first 3rd gen RX-7 I have ever raced and man his turbos sounded evil. One day I will get around to buying me one. Sucks that they get less and less and harder to find each year.

what do you have ?
|
i'm guessing a cobra is what he drives
|
Yea a 99 Cobra :bigok: and a 90 RX-7
I think the 94 was pretty built, not sure what he had though. |
That's okay, man, I've never heard a nice sounding Cobra. There's no accounting for taste.
|
did the 7 have street tires? Good kill. Whats all done to your cobra?

Nope, he had Nitto 555s not sure if they were Rs or not. But I just got some bolt ons. |

Different worlds, bro. I like the sound of my rotary, and not much else. The only things I'll consider are Ferraris, Porsches and the occasional SBC. Even my bud's modified 97 Cobra didn't impress me. |
Hey I guess whatever floats you guys' boats. But I wanna ask, does an RX-7 with an exhaust sound like a lawnmower to you? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

I love the sound of Mustang V8's. As much as I am a rotorhead, I can't stand the sound of a sewing machine that a 13 B makes. |
my buddies camaro with a 305 and race cams sounds friggin awesome.
|
I like Cobras. I think they sound good. They're pretty quick modded. RX7 with BPU+ should be in the 12's. I hope people that race modded Cobra's have at least a BPU+ RX7. If not, chances are they will lose.

This guy said that he had around 400rwhp which I don't doubt!

624rwhp@6,234rpms and 610trq@4,783rpms
And I'm not sure how much it weighs (about 3450) but I don't think it matters much in that race. :smirk: |

nice numbers, but I dont see why some one would join our forum and just rag on 7s thats not cool.
|
Well I DID technically BOLT the procharger on. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
And I'm by all means not bashing RX-7s. Hell I own one and its hella fun to drive even if its slow as all hell (non turbo). But other than the exhaust tone I LOVE the cars! :bigthumg: |
haha would that much hp if you didnt beat him you would suck anyway. next time include the minor fact that you have over 600 rwhp b4 you tell us how bad you beat him

Mine doesnt sound like a chainsaw...it actually sounds throaty...almost vette-like...i love it...i cant stand a car that sounds like a weedeater on crack https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

Snake - Whats up!! This dude used to hang at team FC3S too. Its sad how many car haters there are in this world. I love all cars. BTW- I have a '00 GT Vert going in for a S/C next summer at Steeda.
Snake Aren't you in FLa?? We need to hook up some time I want to see that Cobra. |
Nah, I'm in the upper part of South Carolina. I thought it was funny when I raced this guy cause I knew I was gonna beat him. I mean hell with low 600hp what the hell can't you beat ya know? But yea my Cobra is pretty much maxed out power wise. I mean I COULD go over to turbo and have about 800 or so but nah. I actually want a Z06 to see what I can get out of it staying N/A. But that is later down the road. Jim you should see the new Cobra I got. A 2003 Vert. She is heavy as hell but is packing 471rwhp with only 14psi and exhaust. I cant wait to get serious with that one! But yea don't let anyone tell you guys that RX-7s aren't nice cars. Hell everyone that hears that I have a RX-7 too gets to looking like  and asks me if it is turbo. Someone I actually got to believe me that the RX-7 had 3 cylinders and had 3 T88 turbos on it. Holy **** that would move!!

Hellll no! a 2001 Cobra with your usual bolt ons (headers, X pipe, Catback, intake, TB, pulleys, and MAF will only put it around 330ish RWHP. The only real N/A V8 that you guys would have to worry about that hasn't had its heads or cam changed is a LS1. Those things can easily get low 12's with your usual bolt ons. Now if its a DOHC Cobra with any kind of boost on it look out cause it will give you a damn good run! And if there is a LS1 building any kind of boost look out cause it will blow the hell up! Damn GM products. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/blackeye.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...doublebird.gif |

I could listen to a V8 with a big cam idle all day. I like listening go bridge and p-port rotaries, but it gets old after a few minutes.
