I have a 91 TII ... I also have a 84 gsl-se (thats for sale) ... I never shifted it like that though. In races i would take it to red line, then shift right there. You could try it, im sure it wont hurt as long as you have enough oil. And dont hold it there long, just long enough to shift to the next gear.

ok, so a quik throw at about 7000 is the redline for a first gen right? cool. so yeah shift at about 6500-6700 but keep the pedal mashed down https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

If you want you can go a little past red line. That way you will be in higher rpms when you shift.

listen to sidewinder, since he has a TII https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Mx-6 GT should be an easy kill. I used to beat those with my ****-ass 90 NA all the time.

rukh 10-02-2002 10:38 PM

oh, im sure he "shifts mad quik yo"

you know what would be tight? if he had NOS and he lost the race but blew up his engine, than you could tell him to keep the $100 to buy a gun to shoot himself with. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

They actually stuck an MX6 turbo in the rotary NA class at a race back in 97 at MIR. He was running 15.5's with exhaust, intake and MBC which really isn't great for a turbo. Anyway, I was running 15.7-15.8 in my NA back then so it should be no problem for your T2.

Keep the TII, you don't see many of those on the roads...well you dont see many RX-7s in general on the road, but you get the idea. I personally think it's a prettier car, a little more natural. The 3rd gen is a little too exotic. Let me give you an analogy:

Carmen Electra is definitely hot, a supermodel of sorts. But would you really want her as a wife, no, too high maintenance, but awesome for an occasional ride. Carmen = 3rd Gen.

No a 2nd gen might not be as new or fun, but it is definitely the best for a daily drive, and quite reliable as long as you dont do anything stupid. 2nd Gen = cute girlfriend with awesome personality.

You want the cute girlfriend. Stick with the 2nd gen. However, you should be able to sell it for some decent money and find plenty of interested people. Be sure to keep all documentation of work done to prove it's worth.

In general, I believe you can upgrade 2nd gen's for a lot cheaper and get a lot more power out than stock over a 3rd gen. Also, single turbo = a lot less trouble and money.

YOu also get the surprise value with the 2nd gen. People expect a 3rd gen to be fast just looking at it, you pull up to a light, everyone expects you to will...because you will. however, with a properly modded 2nd gen, people might just blow you off as an old pos hasbeen(especially people in mustangs and ricers), and you have the satisfactions of handing their coffee-can exhaust over to then when the light turns green...with a car that cost at least 1/3 of theirs.
