I have no idea what just happened.
Sorry .........my fng attention deficit.

I kill these cars (as posted above) often and didnt know much about them.

So I decided to see wtf I've been killing. Thats when I found out about the new stuff(Vettes) comming out and what to expect for upcoming kills.

I will only give a yes and no answer from now on.

I pulled into my store @ 11:00 am this morning. I get out of my car. I see a new C5. Kudos man its fine.SlateBlue/Silver with the chrome mags. Its my friend who just picked it up. I said "I got ta go fer a ride". OK...looks like my FD inside but updated and a little nicer . I said get it! its auto and he's got traction controle.?????

Where the fun. So he takes it off and run again. Its nice no questions about it and NO loud exhaust. But it is big.

Still not fast enough. But I can see how if ya dump $40,000. + you'd think your a fast cat but.....................not yet.

next year though 405 hp base , 500hp perfornace version, and 700 HP special order @ $100,000.00

saw this on SpeedVision.

I will still kill most.
a little further info:

c4s had the so-so lt1 and sometimes lt4 engines making 300hp. it was like a 300zx when it came to performance..a bit more top end.

The zr1 were limited editions on certain years pre-97, it ran high 12s all day. These were equipped with the DOHC lt5..a Lotus/GM motor. The 2002 ltous esprit uses a junior version of this engine with twin turbos.

the c5s have the ls1 engine making 350hp, also shared by the 98+ f-bodys (firebird/ Camaro).

the z06 is the special hi-perfomance version of the c5. It came with the 405hp z06.

It can achieve 1.00Gs stock, run 12s stock. Can't be beat by anything wihtin $30k of it.

The upcoming c6, will have the ls6 as a base making 405hp. Later a z06 version will reach at least 500+hp in order to effectively compete with the viper..however it already laps less than a second behind that the current viper in most tracks.

^this will whip any car in 40thousand dollar range i believe.

the 100,000 dollar car is not a "special order" and will never be in any dealerships..

it is the C5r..The c5r beat Team Ferrari (and everyone else) in the 2001 and 2002 Lemans World Challenge (the pinnacle of racin) in the GTS class.

After losing to ferrari in 2003 due to technical problems, The american Lemans series saw the C5r once again Beat the 575 Ferraris. and if they can't put the corvette in their place....

there's plenty a f-body running c5r blocks in their cars, that crowd is not much interested in stop lights however.

as far as 40k to make it fast...an ls1 with bolt-ons is an 11 sec car. Matterfact the bolt-on list over at ls1tech.com has 50 bolt on cars in the 11s. And those are 3400+ pound f-bods imagine a car with 200pounds less at least.

as far as the engine many rx-7s have ls1s in them... hinsonsupercars.com

swaps have been done where the all aluminum ls1 only adds 25 extra pounds, and not to the front entirely. many keep or improve their 50/50.

I like the no piston equation however..also an Rx-7 entusiasts..fascinated with the top end on the fd.

Ok, I'm a Corvetteforum member, so let me give this a shot.

C1- 1953-1962

C2 1963-1967

C3 1968-82 Early cars, steel bumpers, 1973s had rubber front and steel back, 74-82 had rubber front and rear.

C4 1984-1996, no 1983 production cars

C5 1997-current

C4, 1984 had the semi crappy Cross Fire fuel injection system. This was replaced in 1985 to tuned port injection. In 1992, the LT1 was intorduced with reverse cooled heads. In 1996, the LT4 was introduced for a limited time. This had a hotter cam and heads. The ZR1 from 1990-1995 was powered by a 375 and later 405HP 4 cam LT5. This was designed by Lotus and built by Mercury Marine.
