Ford 347 Stroker RX-347 VS EVO
#1
I was driving down I75 in my friends RX-347 as he calls it we where testing out the new trans and we got rolled up from behind bye a pretty new evo with a huge FMIC and what looked to be a full exhaust. Car sounded really nasty snarling all over the place but since we had only like 250 miles on the new trans i did not want to push it but my friend said go for it. i pull up next to him and we are rolling like at 70 and he guns it getting a jump bye the time i react and step on it he is like 2 cars ahead when that tranny down shifted and the rpm's came up OMG the damn car blew that evo apart bye the time i realized it we where bouncing off the rev limiter because the tranny was already in the last gear and with his 4.30 diff it was over quick. At least it looked like we slowed down and not that we ran out of gear as the evo passed us top end. car was probably not going faster that 120-130 stock speedo is not connected so no idea how fast we where going.
Specs on the car:
88 RX-7 SE, Ford 302 Bored and Stroked to 347, Stock Iron Heads, Eagle Stroker Kit W/ forged pistons, rods and crank balanced, Holley Intake Manifold, 750CFM Carb, MSD ignition, Shorty headers w/ str8 back dual exhaust, TCI trans, 4.30 GTU's rear.

It worked out for me that he went V8 since he had done a turbo swap before hand and since he likes to spend money he bought all the goodies that i have now that he no longer needed just a couple small things like a greddy FMIC kit with roughly 300 miles on it, the microtech the profec b and TII tranny. I guess the 2 times i installed the microtech for him and building his V8 + $600 was more than enough payment.

Does that thing still have those rims on it? LOL!! That would be classic, no one would ever expect it to be fast.
Have you taken it to the strip yet, I am curious what kind of 1/4 mile times it turns.
That reminds me of my old 68 mustang it was wicked fast up to 110 and the air brakes came on at 120.
Good kill.

yes he still has those rims which contribute to the out of gear problem they are 175/70/14 tires on 14 inch rims lol. he had a set of rims on the car that he sold and those where laying in the yard.
He did take it to the strip at imokalee drag way it is 1/8 mile and he did a 8.2 with a fried tranny i mean fucked big time he fried the tranny testing the car on the street. it was a used AOD with the TV cable really out of adjustment. so when we got to the track the trans was slipping into neutral and all sorts of crazy ****. now he has a nice new TCI C-4 tranny i think it is a 3 speed the car is now wicked but runs out of gear really quick great for 1/4 and 1/8 but not to good for highway it is really up in the rpm's at 70 so we got off the highway quickly after the race LOL.
Almost made me want to do a V8 swap but then i drove in my buddies 3rd gen to help him do a little ecu tunning and brought me back to reality rotary rules all i just love the sound of a spooling turbo over that V8 growl go figure

you know how weird it is to hear your own car when your not driving it?
when I had my V8 TII car on the dyno last week god damm did it sound awesome- at least I know the noise everyone hears
when I pass them now
but I cant wait to hear the turbo vert on the same dyno!

im telling you he jumped ahead then we pulled on him nasty till what i believe was 120 not sure though no speedo guess that shows how fast this car moves
Yeah had to be quick. He also must have been at 2.5-3k rpm in 4th. Because at 80mph in 3rd is redline. Sad to say here n HI i have not seen any 7s with the swap. looking for an ecu for mine. then i will be driving the 7 daily insted of me evo.
