Here's a twist for the kill section...

While I'm finishing up the work on my car and waiting on a few parts, my buddy is doing the same thing..except he is building a Mistu 3000 GTOVR4 Galant Sedan .. let me explain. In my country we get a Mitsubishi VR4 Galant Sedan.. it's a V6 2.5 L 4dr sedan but it's a twinturbo 4 wheel drive.. well, he's doing a 3000GTO ( us 3000GT) swap and is running Haltech with (my guess) 18-20 psi.. the sedan is about 500 lbs lighter than the 3000 GT ... my set up will be non-seq twins, PFC 550x1600's,Pully kit, FMIC,Profec B, intake, exhaust, clutch and I'm thinking 15 psi should be ok for those OEM Twins.. push come to shove, I'll put 17 psi on them for this race.

Question.. do you think I will be able to take him? ... easily?

For guys like jspecracer who have the same sort of set up, what sort of 1/4 mile time can I look forward to..ball park range for 15 & 17 psi ?? ..don't flame.. I know the twins don't like anything over 15 psi..just asking.

He wants to put $500 bucks on this race.

...this is just to have a little fun until I am ready for the KAI install

Watch out... at 500 lbs less weight than a 3000GT, and AWD TT BPU... You might have a fight on your hands. I know people say the 3000 is a turd, but stock they are even with the FD. The FD mods better, but stripping 500lbs off a 3000 could be interesting....

AWD... :yum:

Mitsu's are dogs for handling, my friend has a VR4 witha modded suspension and it still feels like poop through the turns, I'd think an FD would massacre it around a course, but this swap has some big time potential, but he could've gotten it even faster by building the stock Galant VR4 block. There aren't 8 second DSMs for nothing (it's a 4G63 in it, even the good ones that don't crankwalk due to the 4 bolt rear, and a 6 bolt tranny as well) It's a nice lil car to play with and drive daily, but I dont think it'll handle too well, in a straight line he'll def be movin, but at 500lbs less than a VR4 (3800 vs 3300) he's still got a few hundred on you. Let us know, and get us some pics of this swap. Oh, and 18-20 psi won't happen unless he likes the swap so much he wants to do it again. 3KGTs can't even give enough fuel stock for 13 psi, if he's modded then he could do it, but they're not exactly boost happy cars without some big time fuel.

I'd say he's pretty serious, find out what his turbo setup is dual 13g's, 15g's, 20g's???? I hope not. If he's running a haltec its probably going to be a pretty silly car if he gets the tuning right. Kirk, the original engine in this galant is a 6 cyl also so it makes more sense if there aren't really any aftermarket parts for it to go with the GTO engine. For fuel, used 450cc dsm injectors are dirt cheap and plenty of fuel for even 13g's. Lastly the GTO engine makes more power/psi boost than a supra. So bpu this car will make more power than a supra with the same mods (about the same weight but with awd losses) but be able to get out of the hole unlike most supras. Look out, i don't think its a good idea to put money on this race until you are sure what he has.

UPDATE:

The project VR43000GTO has the stock 13G twinturbos on it...and he's looking for 15G's ..he won't have the 15 G's for this race. Silly me, I brought in an AVCR for him too ( ..dumb ..dumb me). He's looking for larger injectors for it as well. He slipped up and said that his stock VR4 with the Haltech hits 95% dudy cycle at 18 psi..so if the 3000 GTO engine has a silmilar fuel system, I'm pretty sure that unless he gets bigger puslers he can't run anything over 18 psi... heck, he's nuts for running 18 psi at 95% !!! ...I'd say he's an easy 12 sec with this swap.

His other VR4 Galant.. Haltech with nothing but a boost controller runs very low 13's now. This guy has 3 Galant GR4's !! The 3000GTO swap is his play car.. one he gave to his daughter to use and the other is a daily driver..the one that runs 13's.

Another friend has an EVO4 and with 18 psi I walk away in 1st and 2nd gears.. in 3rd he catches me 'cause I run out of boost..( no boost controller until now.. just got a Profec B) ..but at 22 psi the EVO4 walks away... not too quickly though..and this EVO only had a manual dual-stage boost controller..that's it. The Haltech VR4 Galant at 18 psi keeps up with the EVO at 22 psi ... so.. we can assume.. that his stock VR4 is faster than me at 6 psi

....but I will kill them both when I get my boost up to 15..with my PFC..which is being shipped as we speak..ahemm..type.

ARGGG ! I've got my hands full over here.. EVO5's, 6's and 7's like FLIES ! Come HELP me guys ! ..nothing but a boost controller, these little 4WD's EVOs are running mid 12's on pump gas with no mods !!

Oh..by the way, the blue SKF Lancer that just tore Adam S in his NSX a new **** hole is a friend from here.. his name is Ryan Garcia.. ran a 7.7 or something like that... 4G63 as well. He left here running a 8.929@161 .. got on a dyno up there..no Dynos here in Trinidad.. and is now #1 in Pro Class USA .. MADNESS ???!!???

Here are some pics of Ryans car.
