it would bad *** to see 1.3L beat that huge 8.0L
WTF? I've never seen a Saleen w/ an 8.0L. V-8....yes. 96'-up Saleens were 4.6L.(281 cubic inches) 86-95 Saleen put 351's in them. The new S7 engine is the largest they have which is a 7.0 (428 c.i.) V-8. While on military leave, I had the oppertunity to take a tour through the Saleen shop a few weeks ago in Irvine, CA. They don't touch the engine work. They just slap an 8 psi roots blower on and upgrade the suspension a little. The S281E is a different story. (The one used for about a split second in '2F2F' was an Extreme) They run low 12 E.T.'s. If an owner had a chance to mod one of these, most FD's would wanna avoid it. I'm sure there are those of U who could hang, though. The Saleen S7 is the fastest production car out there (11 secong E.T's) and a modded one I couldn't imagine. U probably won't see em' on the street, though, since the one I seen ran for $503,000. It was the one used in 'Bruce Almighty'. S7R won 7 of 9 championships raced and is for sale on collectorcartrader.com for $493,000. Whoa, where was I... I'm getting Anywhooooo, F.Y.I the 4.6 Mustangs had the record of HPCI (horspower per cubic inch) for years until the RX-8's Renesis got here. Now it has the record. And international engine of the year to go along with it. Man I'd love to have a Renesis in my FC!!! N E way's, back to my original thought....where'd the 8.0 come in? Maybe I misunderstood U, is that what Vipers run? But U did say a Saleen w/ an 8.0?????????

What 4.6L had the specific output? For a production street car? I would have to think that there are any number of production cars(Ferrari, Honda, Lambo, etc.) with WAY higher specific outputs than those 4.6, unless you mean some specific race class or something. By the way, are the Renesis motors actually considered to be 1.3 liters for these measurements? I would have thought that they were 2.6. Guess thats probably a long arguement on its own, though. I just read an article that showed the new Enzo being slightly quicker to 60 than the S7 (like a few hundreths so they rounded both to 3.3s) but several mph faster through the traps. I still think its funny that cars that cost well into six digits(or seven like the McLaren F1) are considered street cars for performance tests, but oh well.

I think he meant the Viper is an 8 liter. The Saleen should be a 5.8 liter (351?), unless its a newer 4.6. Btw <~~~ Viper killer

Not sure what the class was. I just read something about it having the record a while back. Yeah, you're right. There are production cars w/ like 3L V-8's and tons more power. I guess it was in a certain classification. I KNOW the renesis has the record now, though. I read that in Rotary News.

So what Mustang comes w/ a 500 c.i. engine? U got me.....
