A friend of mine sold a car to another person in Ohio and there was a problem with the title. Whether it was an honest mistake or not, the state where he sold it from said it was a stolen car. He brought the car over state lines to deliver it. The new owner couldn't get it titled, sued my friend and got the police involved. Bottom line is he got nailed with transporting stolen property over state lines. Since the car was sold for over $1000, he got busted. Lost the lawsuit, owes almost $100,000 in fines and lawyer fees and is starting a 5 year sentence in the state prison on Wednesday. Be careful.

If it was an honest mistake, they probably would have let him slide a bit. If they hit him with a penalty like that, then it's because they figured he knew about it.

Nice kill.

Seems your friend didnt fess up to where the car came from. So, they couldnt prove he actually stole the car so they charged him to the max on what they had. Knowing he stole or knows who stole the car...

Shady buisiness.
