s5 fc can get into the 13's with about 200 bucks in mods ... manual boost controller .. crank it to about 13-14psi, get rid of the cats. BAM .. 13's.

I dont consider 13's as being fast. And 2k for a 13 seocnd time slip is shitty to me.

All im saying is that the 2nd gen eclipes (3rd gen are worse) take a bit to make them fast. As with any car, but i have yet to encounter an actual FAST eclipes (non 1st gen).
what do u consider fast for a street car then?

and i said less than 2k.....lets see, if u get a turbo back..its about 1,000, fuel pump...250, boost controller 80..... so thats 1330 if u do the work urself.....and how long would the fc last like that?

i consider 13's to be quick. 12 and below would be really quick and 11's and below fast.

the fc would run 13's easy and last along time. Boost cranked that high will pose problems, so turn it down to 10 .. you'd still run high 13's. That is on an extremem budget... when youre on a budget like that, i dont think youre going for reliability anyways. Im not trying to bring down dsm's, because i do have a few friends that own them, and i think they are cool cars. But as far as making them a fast car or even really quick ... i dunno .. i just havent seen one in person. Im sure theyre out there.

also...sorry for all the posts...but the only weakness about the 2gs is the small stock t-25...and the 7 bolt motor...but even with the t-25, u can easily hit 13s, slap a 16g in ther and ur in the 12s....rotarys aren't the only engine that can be made fast

i realize that brandon, believe me, im very diverse with engine opinions. If i dont know about the engine, i wont even TRY to argue a point about it. Fact is i do know enough about dsm's to conduct a logical argument. Im probably one of the only few people on here that will also talk about honda engines in a non demunitive way.

not to keep beating a dead horse or anything, but DSMs are the cheap mans race car, i go down to the drag strip last friday(its closed now )...and all u see is nearly stock DSMs running low 13s, i have a friend who ran 13.9(not impressive)...but only 15 psi on a dying engine, and he only had a boost controller, fuel pump and air filter.....another guy, had a 16g, boost controller, 2.5 turbo back and fuel pump, running 12.6s all night long...if u know enough about DSMs, u should know the amount of potential, and how cheap it is to get there

notice also how i said 2nd and 3rd gen dsm's. I never said they didnt have potential and I know the 1st gens ARE the poor mans racecar. show me a 2nd/3rd gen eclipes that runs in the mid 13's with less than 3000 (including the car).

I never said anything about 1st gens... infact i made it a point to exclude them from my argument.

the 3rd gens are pieces of ****, i know that, not even debating that, but the 1st and 2nd gens have the same engine basically, only diff is one is a 7 bolt...and one is a 6 bolt. 3000 for the car and work is impossible with any car, unless u get soem incredible ideas, i'm just saying, not including the price of the car, 1st and 2nd gen DSMs have great potential...also, i never specified what year my friends was(although it was a 91), but the guy who ran 12.6s all night long was a 97, plus there was several other 2g DSMs running in the 13s there...only point i'm trying to make is that, 1g and 2g have the same potential in power, and it is cheap to do it aswell
