I was running my '90 turbo street car at road america in elkart lake when I passed a newer corvette going up the hill out of turn five, turn six at the top of the hill is a blind corner and when I went for the brakes they were soft from fade so I cut in across the grass and reentered the track at a point past the corner. I was in a group of street cars running on the track for the price of a donation of $50. We were not supposed to be racing, but every one was going as fast as they could. After overheating the brakes I decided to slow down a bit for the last laps. Last fall I got to race there for real in my '79 ITA racecar and god that track takes balls to run. Started 27th, ended up 11th but most gains were from other racers either blowing up or going off track and or hitting a wall or tire pile. 20 laps of WOW!
