I haven't driven my car in a while. It has coolant seals that are shot and a slipping clutch. Anyway I decided to take it out last Friday because the weather was nice and cool. Well while out just running around town I ran into a good one.



I was heading into southbou8nd traffic. I had a long merge ramp that leads to a larger road., There was the usuall heavy traffic as I merged. So I run it up to 75 or so and kinda work my way in front. As I gave the glance in the rearview looking for Johnny Law. I see this Black vert SVT 5.0 weaving thru traffic to get up with me. I've got 4 lanes mind you. He gets in behind me after a mile or so. Well I never took it out of 4th gear so I blip the throttle a bit to lunge the car and give him the bark. So He does the same.

I love playing with these guys so I really reel them in for a good go at it. So I boost it up to 11 and run for about 1/8 mile to get his immediate att.

He followes suit only he wants to pull around me. I let him go by and just a s he passes I match his speed right off his quarter side. So I worked up even with him and was looking over the whole time ( Yes I know Im a dick)

Anyway I grin he kind gives me a roll of the eyes like" who the **** are you" So I floor it all the way hard.. Stupid acceleration and I was at 120 when I went for 5th . He was already like 5 -6 cars behind me . It's amazing how slow those cars are. I always think "did they even try?"

Anyway. I toyed with him for everybit of 5 miles. Finally he turned off and I threw the hazards on for him . He threw the bird.

He was pissed I guess. It's just not cool to be a 80's reject pimping a 'stang anymore I guess.

uummm... How slow they are???

they arent slow... just slow drivers.... just a note...



88 5.0 5 spd lx coupe will run 13.8.... bone stock.. not bad... not exactly slow for such an old school setup....



I know FD's are not slow... I have raced a few... actually beat one... which shows ya it comes down to driver since I run 14.8 or did.... though that was my first and last past down the track with the car in its last config.. which was basically neglected from the previous owner....

an 88 runs a 13.8 stock? i dunno about that one, a buddy of mine has a 92 (i think, its the last year for the 5.0 older body style) that he has done alot of modifications on. The thing still only runs mid 14's. Its all motor, but he has the basic mods, with pullys, reprogrammed ecu (racing chip), etc... all the nice mustang mods without running any forced induction.

Uh christ man this is the no pistons forum ..you should know you moderate here. Why would I have anything nice to say about a 'stang. I think they are ugly redneck rides. Yes I know they can be fast. I'm sure there are some out there that can beat me. So what!!! I don't care I still think they are **** cars. I smoke one every chance I get and I will go find one specifically for you today.

My friend has a 93 LX hatch that runs 14.4 stock. Maybe a ringer 88 LX coupe could run a 13.8, but its not accurate for him to say they all do. I know a guy with an 88 LX, and I waxed that ***. His best with a Tremec, clutch, 3.73s, headers, and exhaust was a 14.2@ like 95.

Not all drivers are equal

On the 88 coupe... here is what it had...]

manual windows.. manual locks... LX seating.. speed density setup (worth more hp when bone stock) and a 5 spd. it weighed as lil as possible.

Also no svt convertible Mustangs until 94 and up.

There were 2 93 Cobra models. Both hatchback. Both only sporting 235hp.

One was a road race model with beefed up suspension and bit of a diet. that was the 93 Cobra R. But only rated at 235hp.

So it was some redneck probably with an auto 5.0 convertible (which are somewhat slow) and he had svt badges on it... which is kind of rice since it wasnt an svt most likely unless it was a 94-up

Hatchs weigh more than Coupe

Hatchs arent as stiff chassis wise as coupes

Also chips really arent with a **** on a more or less stock 5.0

Also last year for the 5.0 was 95.

Last year for a Fox 5.0 was 93

Last year for a 5.0 being in anything in North america was 01.



Stock to stock

FD will spank a mustang from 79-95 That includes all models.

And will smoke 96-98 Cobras (or should) will smoke 96-03 Mustang GT's

99-03 Cobras will be a lot more difficult to kill with a 99-01 Cobra kill possible. 03 Cobra kill with someone who does not know how to drive.

Man Mustangs are BEAT *** rides. They are ugly and look like a tank on wheels. American car manufacters just dont do a whole lot with suspension stuff. The Japs got it down my man aswell as the germans.



Dont be all gay about it just be cool and understand. It makes it real easy on yourself and others.

yeah with slicks..... i think the fastest stock fox ever tested was a 92 notch, a 14.3
