Well after racing the GT mustang I was on my way back and I see this rough Firebird up ahead so I speed up some to see if he is any kind of threat. At first I dont see anything and he looks too rough to be any real threat so I begin to pass him he drops it and flies by as I see a shfit light telling him to shift. I thought i heard a cam so at this point I consider myself fucked. Well as luck would have it the light up ahead turns red no one in front. We both pull up. Light turns green I spin some he immediately pulls away (****!) then I get traction shift into 2nd begin catching back up getting ready to shift into 3rd winding out 2nd my front bumper is equal with his I slam into 3rd and begin passing him I run 3rd out and he shuts down. Well he gets into the turn lane with me and follows me into the schnucks parking lot (grocery store) and he stops beside me asks what I got done. I tell him to go first so he does. His car is a 305 with a 4 barrel aftermarket carb and an aftermarket intake. He has a turbo 350 trans with aftermarket clutch packs or whatever and a shift kit. So I finally tell him that I only have a cold air intake and electric cooling fan. Another disappointed face... kind of sucks... well my g/f recognized the guys voice it was he friends ex b/f and he is a huge firebird guy. Damn sucks even more beaten by a basically bone stock 89 Gt convertible.... guess that shift light really wasnt much... I told him my rpm guage did not even work... lol..... so much for excuses... but he was a good sport about it!
