I went to the local 1/8 mile track last sunday and I got the privilege of running a 5.0 my very first run there. So the guy didn't know what to expect out of my car, because I didn't turn any times yet. He did a massive burn out first and then, I just got the water of with a little tiny burn out, he looked over just about laughing, bet he thought this was going to be an easy run. Well here it goes, lights start to go down, RPMS up to 5000 and I launch, I put about 2 cars on him out of the hole, and put atleast 2 more on him down the track if not more. I ended up beating him by 5 tenths and I know he was embarrassed. That run was a 9.8 @ 72 MPH. At the time it was like 85 degree ans very humid, carb was really rich, but still killed that stang.. pretty nice though. My dad said his face when I left him at the line was priceless. Man you can't be that..

The guys reaction was basically come no where near me the rest of the day and you could tell he got shunned by the other mustangs that he was with, but the bad thing was there was only 2 out of his group of 5 that could beat me.. HAHA.. Eat that one.

5.0's are still cool in my books though. I'll never forget my friend's cousin's 5.0 (I know lol) out in Vancouver last year. Loud like crazy! When we'd go out after he'd get home from work he wouldn't even have to call us to get ready. We could hear him like a mile away lol and we'd be ready by the time he got there lol. Great kill btw.

1/8th mile? I am surprised he did not take you in 1 and 2nd gear with all the torque.

Good kill. And never underestimate your opponent. There are 500hp stangs around here and 600hp supras also. The stangs only go the top of 3rd gear.

I have respect for supercharged 5.0s, but I hate when people drive near stock 5.0s and think they are kings. My brother in law have a fully built 302 bored to something, supercharged, That car is by far the fastest thing I have ever ridden in. Its awesome. Only thing really don't get any traction, but thats also fun.

Not even a streetported FD with non-sequentials and all the bolt-ons you can think of?

I have respect for the supercharged stangs. Even the new ones. Those things are monsters. And that is about the only thing I respect. And supras, but you rarely see one of those. I KNOW of one where I live, never seen it, just heard of it.

Good kill, Its always nice to hear of a rotarian victory further smashing the ego of mustang owners everywhere.
