Im at this party when one of my friend asks me to race him (91 Civic DX) and one of his friend (92 Civic SI HB). I raced the SI twice and smoked him in 3rd gear (1st and 2nd gear, we were pretty close).



When I raced the DX, I missed 2nd gear so he pulled maybe 1/2 car lengths in front of me, when I finally shift in 2nd I get even with him, shift into 3 and I'm 1/2 car lengths ahead of him.



Why didnt I smoke them harder?

I'll run some injector cleaner tonight and drive around town, to see if it helps but I still believe it should be faster in 1st and 2nd gear

If you have your 5th and 6th ports wired open that will reduce your torque some. But it shouldn't make a difference in the higher rpms.

i raced my brothers gti and he smokes me. then i let my buddy drive my car and race him and the gti lost by 1 car. all depends on the driver too ya know
