Wont be long now

im running out of room in my room to store all my rx7 stuff (we recently sealed our garage as we slowly build a detached shop in the backyard) i got rims, and just about every little thing sitting in my room. But id rather have the bodywork and everything done to a high level of excellence then to have a 2 week rush job lol.
Want me to come up soon? I gotta drop off the plexi, your color chart, pickup my old bumpers, plus while im up there i gotta bring the motor to kahren to port it, plus drop you some greenbacks.
GreyGTC: yea i cant wait for the color either, ive been staring at this color chart for a while lol
kevin.

primer went on today, it layed down nice, I didnt have the camera with me, Ill take some pics on Monday.
I have this little 2"x2" color sample sitting on my desk, I dont think it will photograph well. Ordering the basecoat this week anyhow, maybe Ill paint the mirrors for you to see when you come up next.

when i painted my grey car... we left the engine bay silver originally. That annoyed me so first time the engine was out again, i planned to paint it. I didn't want to do the base coat/clear coat under the hood like rob mentioned, but i got a few cans of matching grey spray paint from the dealership (one of the reasons i picked a factory color) and prepped and sprayed the bay with it. Holds up pretty well, and is easy to touch up when scraped while working on the engine.

Yea plus numerous black accents around the car to match the underhood area, the headlight recess is black, taillights will be blacked out, rims are black with a polished lip, full interior is black...tires are black....umm tints are black....i ran out of any other things lol.
and yes everyone is going to call it abumble bee and i dont care
Rob, btw, i meant to ask if you tried removing the weather stripping around the windows/windshield yet, and if you did, did you have any problems?

the weatherstripping around the back glass is part of the glass, or so the glass guys told me when they looked at the car, doesnt bother me too much because the hatch is staying black anyhow
front windshield weatherstripping above the windshield will be removed right before paint and replaced with a new seal.
Other ones just pop out around the side windows.

this is the second coat of primer, and under hood sanded just about ready for the primer and paint, I will be using a wet on wet self etching primer.
Engine compartment was degreased and pressure washed, sanded with scothbrite pads and scouring powder, then degreased and pressure washed again.
I will remove the remaining decals and weatherstripping, wire wheel the frame rails where the turbo and brake fluid had burned and stripped the paint and caused light surface rust, final sand, then apply self etching metal primer, then paint underhood and engine compartment
that black in the transmission tunnel is either black paint or very smooth undercoating, havent looked too far into it yet.
