...not me of course...I like to eat...that's why my car doesn't look as good or is as fast as Dragon's https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif |
That's why I'm a skinny bitch...
and in reference to the other post.. Why on earth would I pay and extra $500 to get the carbon fiber hood and then Paint it???? I would just get the FRP one if I was goin to do that... |
zeropiston...anymore pics of that panspeed ?
|
whats with the unpainted hoods? even if it is carbon fiber i still like them painted... i dont know
|
Ok. let me explain carbon fiber to you.. There are 2 types.. #1 is called wet carbon fiber that is made the way it is to look really nice and not be paited... It's not really any stronger than regular fiberglass so if your going to pait it then you might as well just get the same hood in fiber glass and not pay the extra $$ for the pretty wet carbon one...
#2 then there is dry carbon, this is stong, much sronger then wet carbon and Fiberglass and it is extremly light, aproximatly 25-50% of what fibergalss or wet carbon weighs.. it is however some what ugly and that is why some people paint dry carbon fiber parts... O' and it is extremly expensive.. Ie.. the RE-Amemia rear GT wing I want is $998 in Fiberblass $1498 in wet carbon fiber $2898 in dry carbon fiber :wiggle: |
Dry Carbon is cured in a pressurized oven! That's why it cost so much more!
|
i have the scoot... i love it... the bov is sooo much louder and i could tell that it cools down my engine bay soo much. i could feel the heat coming out of the vents...
|
Ipainted mine but it wasn't pretty befor so I had no problem doing it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Especially if you still like the smooth lines of the car, it really looks good. Almost every car at Panspeed when I went there had this hood. VERY NICE Opiston.... Jason www.jt-imports.com |

Nice spoiler, that style is getting popular FAST!! I have seen that type by another company (cheaper) and it has an adjustable double spolier at the top very nice, a quick look they look the same, but nice... I just dont like the mounts it has. I might have to send you to kick his ass for me.. :smirk: I've seen the replica GTII spoilers, but like you I don't like the mounts.. I want them to be right on the edges of the rear hatch and not in the middle... If you can find me somthing like that for cheaper let me know and I'll buy it from you with in the next 2 weeks.. |
damn you guys have got some nice hoods. i really like jspecracer7's and dragon's hood"if he ever gets it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

Okay, I'm still a newb, and I'm gonna embrace this newbness by asking a possibly newb question.
https://www.nopistons.com/forums/upl...1034268876.jpg What are those pins/clips on the front of the hood for? |
they are hood pins, they hold the hood down in case the latch fails or in alot of cases if you don't have a latch anymore
|
I got my RE Amemia hood.. it's super light and looks bad ass, great craftsmanship...
only problem is it was flexing and pushing up about a 1" at 60 kph, so I added hood pins in the corners just above the head lights and tested it to 200kph https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png , no more flex... JTImport, I also ordered the GTII wing in the black and white adds towards the rear of the current RX-7 Magazine for 79,800 Yen... It looks and mounts the same as the RE Amemia one for about 1/2 the price and it's carbon fiber as well.. It should be here by christmas https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png, so I'll post some pic's around that time.. |
Damn I love that Petit hood.
Someone hook me up yo! |

Chuck[/quote] Nice to see you come over this way.. :yum: Carbon Fiber one.. it was bowing out on both sides above the fenders so I put hood pins just above the headlights where the rubber piece is and it fixed it like a charm.. the hood weighs at least half or less than the stock hood and it's pretty as **** with great craftsmanship.. My panspeed front bumper takes in a **** load of air so that may be some of my problem and I have the rain guards in under the ducts yet so that probably added to the air pressure pushing up on it... If you make copies you may want to run a peice of aluminum down the sides to reinforce it some... I'm still waiting for you to give me a deal on a set of carbon fiber flush mount headlights by the way.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |

I saw that Green RE Greddy 9 car at 2002 tokyo autosalon and the AD hood 9 on the car has the same kind of problem you described. I thought it's just the prototype error. I guess not. I will make a copy of the AD hood 9 since so many people in the US like it but it's pretty damn hard to get it. I ordered mine 3 months ago and it's still not done yet. If you like my sleek light kit, just send me an email at rotaryextreme@aol.com. I will give you a special price on it. It will be smarter to get the HID version though since the Japanese HID options are so damn expensive. Chuck |

With both the Scoot and RE Amemia hood 9... what about the water cover plates
in use with the strut bar? Does anyone have a picture of the cover plates and a R1 bar? thanks. |
The RE hood will work with the tower bar, not sure about the Scoot one, but it probably will..
|
Opinons please: With the 99 complete body kit (rear adjustable spoiler,
tail lights, complete front bumper, front and rear emblems) which hood would look best? Scoot? RE? or other.. (I'd rather not go with a carbon fiber one) my car is brillant black. thanks. |
Hmm.. stock body lines.. I'd go with the Panspeed or simular hood.. All the ducting in the other hoods won't work with the stock 99 body, too much in one place..
Need to keep everything balenced |
I got a new camera https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Turbovr6 what light conversion kit is that?

:bigok: :bigok: :bigok: Goddamn Dragon, your car just killed any thoughts I had that my car was kewl looking.
Major congrats on one mean looking ride. I am glad to have seen those pics!! :bigok: :bigok: :bigok: |
