try hot dipping or using some aircraft remover before starting to sand off the paint, you gotta sand the whole thing anyway, but sanding off a thick layer of paint is never fun

I completely agree.

When I polished my old PFS IC. I stripped off the red paint before any sanding.

question for anyone who has done it before...

when buffing, the metal piece turns blackish, am i applying too much pressure or should i wipe it all off with the #0000 steel wool?

also how do i clean the buffing wheels? ive spent 40 alone on the wheels for it sence my buffer does not take thin wheels, only thick ones so i had to double the wheels on both sides. washing machine? my discs are made of flannel..

If it gums up in one area, your pushing to hard.

Just scrape the smudged area off with steel wool and keep buffing.

Clean the wheels by holding the sharp end of a chisel against the wheel as it spins.
