No Mike the other Mike (rx7trix)

LOL

I want to use dye.

I did the lower pass side kick panel last night with plasticoat. I looks ok but I can scratch the color off.

So i need to dye the parts.

Im just goona buy the overhead parts in black. I think that would give me the best results.

The plastic pieces are near impossible to paint. Im lucky I had a 94, all the peices are black except the plastic hinge covers for the seats. I have re-painted them a million times with everytype of spray paint and the paint comes off.

For vinyle, it will not scrape off.

You gotta use a primer or flex adhesion promoter.

Something like that.

I have found some stuff that should work.

I am just waiting for the stuff to show at my house so I can get started.

Dave,

As soon as you get that ****, test a piece and see what results you get. I have tried 3 different types of PLASTIC SPECIFIC paint to no avail. Vinyl color by plasti-kote works the best so far. I did the kick-panels and doors. The kick panels are pretty durable. I kicked them and scratched at them and they held. Its at the edges they arent so strong. The doorpanels are INDESTRUCTABLE. As will be the headliner. The doors are a bit glossy though... Might just cover them with leather.. as with the rest of the ****** interior. It's a bitch.

I will, My bigest thing with this is geting the best results on a budget.

I hope that this stuff works.

Im gonna redo the head liner and a pillars in suede or crushed velvet. Something like that.

I have a hook up for that and the contact cement to do it with.

Im really all figured out except for the carpet. I have no idea what Im gonna do with that yet.

Be carefull if you do this. Their is not much clearence between the door panels and the side railing. I know they tried on my car but the door was hard to open.

I'm budgeting too. I'm going to look around at my options for the interior. I guess I'll play with it. Cant get much uglier than the tan...

Worst problem I see is getting all the little pieces... Mounting things for all the panels.. you know.

I know that you can get all the little black plastic phillips head expanding tabs from True Value harware stores.

I bought a couple dozen already. I payed about $10 for 30 or so.

Sweet. Thanks Dave.

Question for ya: Have you looked at the vents on your doorpanels close yet? Mine are SERIOUSLY deteriorated. Like I can scratch them apart. I think they'll be IMPOSSIBLE to paint. Just thought I'd let you know. Never noticed it till I went to paint them... started sanding them to prep, and they just started falling apart. Wonder if the 626 or anything have the same pieces...
