Hey guys/gals, I just bought a '88 GTU last week and I'll be starting the stereo install soon. I've been fabricating custom fiberglass kickpanels for 3rd gen Camaros/Firebirds (my previous car) for awhile. I was thinking of starting the same with 2nd gen RX-7's Would anyone be interested in this? I have a very humble website at www.subenclosures.com. I'm also planning a full-fiberglass sub enclosure/amp rack to go between the rear strut towers. Let me know what you think!

That's cool, man, welcome to the forum. What do the kickpanels look like? How about custom sub boxes to go into the cargo tub spaces?

it would be cool if you could do some sub boxes for the verts under the spare tire cover.

Here's a picture of one of the ones I'm making for Camaro's. This is the passenger side carpeted version. I also offer Vinyl covered, but it's a bit more expensive. The RX-7 kicks will probably be similar. They replace the factory kick panel like a Q-form, but they're fiberglass instead of that lame plastic they use.

I thought about the cargo boxes for sub enclosures. It almost seems too obvious. I actually use mine so stuff doesn't fly around the hatch area when I'm driving. They will probably come sometime in the future as a direct drop-in and replace the lid with a grille.

I'm working on a spare-tire box for the '89-'96 300ZX. If I could find a RX-7 'vert in the area I might be able to do the same.

I'll keep you guys posted on progress.

I would be interested in the kick panel.

Just out of curiosity, can I see a pic of the driver side panel installed...any car will do. I just want to see if it would affect driving. Esp spirited driving.

yeah sometimes these really get in the way of driving if the speakers are pretty big. what size speakers could be put into these? could 8s be done? those would be cool for the verts bc we have the headrest speakers so it would be a great balance for the sound.

After looking at it more closely I think it'll be a chore just to fit 6.5's in there. There's always the option of door pods to fit 8's (although imaging wouldn't be as good). Here's a picture of the vinyl style installed in a Camaro.
