cant we some how cut vents into out stock hoods? there aluminum and I cant buy another hood that doesnt weigh all that less for $500+.

you could, but it would take some skill.

I was under the impression that removing the molding at the back of the hood would be a bad thing. The high pressure are formed at the windshield would tend to force air in to the engine bay from the wrong direction. While this may bring down engine temps, it would also slow the flow of air from the front of the car causing less velocity across the radiator and intercooler.

Other than that...pick the hood ya like the looks of the most.

I got the knightsport CF knockoff by VIS, and I think it does an excelent job.

Bob

ding ding.... we have a winner..

Yeah I did it a while back, maybe 2 years ago, not a good idea..

IMHO a hood is a hood is a hood.

I like only a couple of them. There are some cheap ones out there, that look that way, but get one you like for looks and style because more or less thats what the cost is really for....

Weight reduction---yes, but not that big of a deal.

Cooling---Yes, but the hood doesnt cool the radiator does, so it helps but depending on the hood it can decrease cooling (air flow)

so from your experience and seeing all of these hoods in person and talking to most if not all the manufacturers, which one has the best over cooling/air flow on the FD?

i have the scoot hood now but a long while ago i used to have the c/f vis monster hood and vis makes great quality hoods seriously. and they look good too. but yes my scoot lets out so much heat and with the gills like the n1 it has to be cooloing down the motor a good amount atleast alot more then an OEM style would!

treceb 06-04-2004 08:00 AM

is that an original scoot hood? whats the deal with the hole in the front?

JT-Imports 06-04-2004 07:48 PM

I would agree on Scoot for moving the most air, but I seriously dont think that means the most cooling. It doesnt move any air threw the radiator........

So this is why my opinion is doesnt matter, its mostly a looks thing.

I like the AD9 hood and thats whats in the mail sort of speak for me, since I think the Scoot hood is a little too over the top with the duct in the front.

orginal scoot no that thing is like $2300 ... and it is 100% carbon fiber. mine is a replica carbon fiber. the front scoop channels air to the rear of the engine bay. RE had a 100% carbon fiber scoot wanted $1900 but i think i paid like $1650 fore mine it think . yes no much air routed to radiator but thats why im looking for the signal auto radiator shroud.

vspecpgt 06-05-2004 09:47 AM

did scoot just start making the CF ones? cause originally they only made fiber glass, Chuck was the first one to make a carbon scoot hood.....
