ok i got the top cover on, anyone have howto wire in a boost gauge's light for dummies?
>Start by removing the steering column trim (upper and lower).
>Then, remove the lower dash cover.
>Then, look for two (17mm?) bolts up underneath the wiring harness, loosen them to drop the steering column a little.
Remove the screws on on the bottom of the gauge hood that should now be exposed.
>Remove the dash side vent passage panel. Pull toward the left (door), it should pop out.
>Remove the screw holding the gauge hood.
>There are NO screws on the HVAC side of the gauge hood.
>Grip the gauge hood from the front, with your four fingers on the top and your thumb under the 'lip', at the 11 and 1 o'clock positions; pull hood straight toward yourself. it's tough, but it will unsnap.
>After removing the hood/cluster assembly, you can either unclip all the connectors in the back, or not. I chose to remove the cluster completely from the vehicle for accessibility to the wires that need to be tapped. IF YOU REMOVE THE CLIPS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO TEAR OR FOLD THE FLEXIBLE CIRCUT PRINT ON THE BACK OF THE GAUGE HOOD.
>Find the bulb that illuminates the ring around the cigarette lighter plug. I forget the colors, but I think one is BLACK. The BLACK one is GROUND. The other is +12V.
>I used T-Taps, as opposed to Scotch Locks to tap these wires. T-Taps allow you to unplug the new wire from the slave wire.
>Be sure to plug the cluster back in and try turning on the lights before you get it all back together.
What kind of boost gauge are you using?
You guys are killin me. Like I said take both the guage pod and the lower half off teh car.Use a drill bit slightly smaller than the screws you will be using. (get some nice stainless ones from the hardware store for like .15)
Then just drill your self a pilot hole in the tabs. Then just screw the pieces together when you install them back in the car.
Mine looks like a pro install and it doesnt fly across the car when making wild turns like Danny boy there.

Yeah I hate my Rx-7 store steering pod.....It's not glued down or anything, whenever a drift session is called for it goes flying an usually royally screws me. I want to get the RE one.
Wow those directions for wiring that gauge light seems a bit too difficult. I wired all 5 of my gauge lights to the light in the ash tray. All you have to do is remove the shift ****, pull the panel out, and use some wire taps to tap into the two wires on the light. The dimmer also controls this light and I found out that you have to connect both wires or else the dimmer does not work properly. I thought I could ground it on the body and only run a wire for the +12 but that didnt work. The dimmer requires both wires connected to it. It is much easier than pulling the dash apart.
