Replacing Carpet
Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone has tried to replace the carpet in an FC
I have an 88 vert. and its getting worn down i was wondering if anyone has tried to do it themselves? i have seen on other car forums for honda civics that they did and it seemed easy but it was a honda lets be real here haha I understand what i need and how to do it i was just wondering the difficulty of doing it? I plan on going to home depot or menards (some sort of hardware place) and getting some decent black carpet and measuring out my floor space and what not then getting it all down idk if thats a good route to go or not any further advice would be much appreciated

Re: Replacing Carpet
I'm by no means an expert, but I would highly recommend getting a replacement carpet specifically molded to the shape of the floorpan. Rockauto has the item in their online catalog, and there may be other sources. It's not terribly expensive, and I think you're going to get a much nicer job. Fitting a flat piece of carpet to the floor with all its dips and hollows is going to be a bear, IMO.

Re: Replacing Carpet
The molded carpet kits are not too expensive and will save you a lot of headaches. I've never done one in my rx7 but i have done it in a couple other cars, the key is removing everything. Seats, moulding, etc...

Re: Replacing Carpet
I've swapped out the carpet in my coupe, it wasn't too bad. The part that sucks the most is the brittle plastic in/around the dash, I broke a lot of stuff. Taking the seats and trim out is easy, and the dash doesn't need to come all the way out.

Re: Replacing Carpet
I'm also using molded carpet in my car, they are in better quality which easy to clean. It is available for floor, seat and other car parts.
