Without removing the dash... Do I have to cut it? If so, where do you recommend?

yeah you have to cut it. see my post a month or so ago about re carpeting. it really does not matter where if you plan to discard the old carpet. I cut my into managable sections with a utility knife then pryed/ripped the carpet up
