I know when you want to paint a Red car Blue, or something like that....you want to paint the engine bay and door jambs and basically the whole car....or it looks stupid...

But given, the car is black, and has a black interior...what color would you paint the exterior?

Would it look bad for the exterior to be CYM, while the jamb's/engine bay/etc is all black? I know the black interior is fine for colors like red/yellow/blue etc....but I am just wondering if any color doesn't look "bad" when you have the jambs and engine bay black....

What do you think? (Not sure where this post belongs...)

its completely acceptable for have a black engine bay and paint the car any other color. you will want to pay extra to have the door jams painted though (its like $100 bucks).

Black is the only color you get away with doing this.

i think having a white engine bay is also acceptable. it makes it easier to spot leaks and just in case you have to fuss with something on the side of the road at night, maybe it alot easier to see. Alot of race cars have white engine bays regarless of exterior color.

Perhaps each side?

When I was going to paint my Mr2, a very reputable paint shop said he'd charge $150 each side (Door Jamb).

I was thinking CYM everywhere cept in the engine bay. Basically whole outside and door jamb's....

I love CYM, and I could care less if it's original (Boo freaken hoo i say!)

I think I am going to lean towards painting it CYM, and getting the door jambs done as well....leaving the engine bay and any small parts black like the interior..thanks for the input.

*Now wish me luck on perhaps getting this FD*

i think if you have a black car ... its fine to change the rest of the car to a different color... just make sure that they dont splat the other color into the engine bay

and the door jams are pretty cheap (if not included) in the paint job, it would look stupid with a differnt color in there than outside
