i was the local car audio place today trying to figure out the best way to add more weight to my car and the guy there suggested some orion xtr's with and xtr amp. i have heard mixed things about orion in the past do anyone here have any opinions?

the system (subs only) would be t 12" XTR's in a custom box (made by me) where the storage bins go (i hope) and one 2 channel xtr amp to power the subs

Are you sure that there's enough space there for 12's? 10's would fit ok and provide decent bass.

He could always get one of those Velodyne servo controlled subs.

ive alway liked JL subs 12W3 most likely.

as for the space dude said we could put 15"s in if we really wanted to but i think there would be enough volume for accurate bass reproduction.

as for the velodyne WTF are those

oh and i like decent bass but generally louder is better (muwhahaha, i will make the old ladies hate me)

That is my setup. JL 15 with an orion465 cobalt running it. Sounds sweet.

I wouldn't go with those subs, I'd get either JL Audio, Kicker, or Rockford Fosgate. I've owned several (total of 8) of JLs woofers, and never had any problems. Plus they require a pretty small box. I've also owned many RF products, they are very good, I only blew one of their woofers. I've only owned a few things from Kicker, but they were very high quality.

As for the Crossfire amps, I own 2 right now, and they are well worth the $. They aren't the best, but they get the job done for almost half the price of a quality, name brand amp.

Also keep in mind the size of box that the different woofers require. I've got a RF 8" in my vert, and I love it. I needed a little tiny box, and that is why I got the woofer. It only needs a .3 cu ft box, can handle 800 watts, 2" DVC, and cast aluminum basket. I've had my share of big bass systems (2 RF 18" woofers + 600 watts = loud), now I find them annoying. I justy like a nice clean low-end.

The new JL subs are INSANE, W-73 line. SMILEPHOTOVIDEO.com, they are here in New York, I have no damm clue how thier prices are so cheap, I have gotten JLs from them in the past, brand new, in the boxes, full warranty, and they were over $100 cheaper then anyone else. I usually pick **** like that up in person from them, being as they are so heavy. But you have to call and tell them to have it in the store, the store is small and they dont allow people to get anything from the warehouse, at least the last time I got from them anyhow.
