Need A How To: C.f.

how to.
I know you take the fiberglass mat and lay it down and make the shape out of chicken wire.
Do you just put the hardener on there then? Sound about right?
As for the carbon fiber, just wanted to know how to make the molds for it.
I don't really know anything about it except it looks good and is light and strong.
I feel kinda dumb about it and just wanted to be more familiar.

I have been looking at building a custom fibergalss enclosure for the rear hatch area of the FC for a while. I would like to do something that fits in the corners behind the rear shock towers [if you are interested let me know]. Anyway after doing a lot of research I have not seen a single right up that recomends the use of chicken wire. From what I have seen the way to do it is as follows: lay down a thick layer of either saran wrap or tinfoil. Make sure to use a few layers and a good way of doing it with tinfoil is to use spray mount between layers in order to make sure nothing moves. Then build a frame out of 3/4" mdf. Use as much mdf as possible and only fiberglass what you have to. Now that you have yourself a frame there is a couple of ways you may need to go about things. If you are fiberglassing the outside in order to get a nice organic look then use some felt or other somewhat sturdy fabric and stretch it over your frame. This will give that nice rounded look. If you are fiberglassing the back of the piece in order to fit the car then you will need to lay the fiberglass down on top of the tinfoil/saran wrap and build your first layer, then build it up more outside the car and join it to the rest of the frame. Either way chicken wire might work, but it will most likly be hard to get the right shape.
