Instrument Cluster Removal Help
#1
i need to take off the instrument cluster hood thingy because a bulb has burned out and i want to replace all the orange bulbs with white like in my z... when you take it off, do you have to remove the cover on the steering shaft or any other panels, or will it come clear off.. i really dont want to mess with it too much not knowing what to do due to the fact ive already cracked several interior peices.. thanks

This might help. It is a link to painting the interior, but there is a description on removing the panels. http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/3rdgen/how-...or%20paint.htm
Also, check out the FSM S54 to S57.

The bulbs are not what makes the gauges illuminate amber, All the bulbs are already white. The diffusion material in the gauge itself is why they are amber. You can replace the bulb but you cannot make them light up white. I know I have changed the color in mine to a deeper red by laying dark red monocoat over the back of the gauges.

Oh and to remove it all. There are three screws o the bottom of the steering cover, then disconnect the ingnition bulb. Then you need to take off the side vent in the door jamb,. There is one screw back there for the cluster, then the AC panel has to come off because it is covering a screw for the cluster. Then there are two for the cluster along the bottom edge. Then once those are off you pull it firmly towards the driver seat. It will sound like it breaks as the clips holding it come loose. Once popped loose, You have to reach back and disconnect the six plugs in the back and dont forget the cigarette lighter as well.
Good luck.,
Good luck.,

Taking it out is easy- Make sure you put it back right or all of the gauges and/or lights wont work right.
